Soak it in cold water, you shouldn't use hot water on blood.
  • I was always told to soak it in cold salt water

You could also ring the local CID and ask them how to remove a large blood stain, they'll probably pop round too. :rotfl:

  • Yep, soak in cold (NOT HOT!) water. Then try a bit of hand soap or fairy liquid on the stain if it doesn't lift. Then, wash on cold. If the stain isn't completely gone after a cold wash, then don't let it dry until you do get it out.

I recently got rid of a dried on blood stain using hydrogen peroxide - just dabbed it a few times and let it dry in-between times. I was surprised how well it worked - be sure to wear gloves when using it as it doesn't half burn the fingers!

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
  • Thanks all, have got the bedding in a bucket of cold water with a bit of washing liquid in to soak overnight.

My son said when he woke up he thought someone had been trying to murder him!!

And yes unfortunately this seems to be connected with medication he takes which is a real pain. First time it has actually happened while he was asleep though!

You should give the Doctor a ring tomorrow, just to check this as although the blood loss is not as dramatic as a nose bleed often appears, he could end up anaemic if it happens often. He might need a quick cauterisation of a blood vessel. Do get it checked.

If you have to chuck the bedding make sure you wrap it in thick black sacks before putting it in the bin, as

    A) It's not safe for the Bin men
    B) Don't dig a hole and bury it in the Garden at night.
    C) Don't have a new Patio put in if you do B)
    D) The neighbours will be calling CID for you. :rotfl:
