I can remember my Mum keeping a bucket of salty water handy when we had colds, and hankies were always put in there as soon as possible after use. (Sounds gross I know but we were brought up with it) Then I think they would have been given a boil wash. I would imagine the same process would work if you regularly have blood stained items. The beautiful thing about learning is nobody can take it away from you.
Thanks to everyone who contributes to this wonderful forum. I'm very grateful for the guidance and friendliness that I always receive from you.

Just had my first nosebleed since I was a child...My cat Daisy was on my lap when it happened so I wasn't quite quick enough to get to the loo so I have some blood spots on the armchair & the carpet..so what's good at removing blood from light brown carpets?
Thanks.0 -
Salt water is good, make sure the water is cold though.0

If you use salt water do not rub or you could spread the stain.
I would us spray biotex (99p stores) and blot away with a piece of towellingBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Yep, cold water for fresh blood as hot will set it - just a little as you don't want it to spread too much. Blot and sprinkle salt liberally on it to draw it out. Hoover and repeat if necessary.
Have also read that the enzymes in the saliva of the person who spilled the blood is good for small spots of blood. Failing that, bio washing powder should work too - possibly a good fallback if the blood has set due to age or attempts at removal with hot water.Trust me - I'm NOT a doctor!0 -

Hi
My son has just remembered that he had a massive nose bleed in the middle of the night last night! I think the pillow is going to have to go in the bin but his duvet cover and sheet are new and I want to try and get them clean.
The blood has well and truly dried now and I havent got any stain remover in the house. Any ideas please?0 -
Soak them in a bucket of warm water and Biological soap powder overnight, and bung in the washing machine in the morning.
If it was just a few spots, spit is the best remover.
Meat Tenderiser may also work.My Mind wanders, if found please return.0 -
Oh and get your Son to the Doctor, to have a look up that nose, if it wasn't handpicked he could well have a medical problem that needs checking on.My Mind wanders, if found please return.0
