He might expand or reposition practise area over the next year, but we feel more secure this week than we have since november. It is a nasty time to be in the city because while there is work again for many, there are not the same opportunities to move firms. There has been a lot of stress in the lir small holding. I would say its equally caused by smallholding and london, but weighted to london, because without london we cannot afford small holding really!
). This means the smallholding life doesn't have to pay for itself too much and we don't have to live where our properties are, just visit fairly regularly.
It must be hard to juggle the two lives. How often is he away?0 -

They will deliver it but once delivered to our lane, it then has to be transported 100 yards perhaps across the boggy field and then positioned where the old caravan was. Before that can happen, the gate needs to be removed and the hedge widened as the gate is 10ft and the static is 14ft wide, then it will sink into the field if we don't have some means of getting it across (?boards - I really don't know) and needs a hardstanding or, again, it will sink into the mud.
I've thought about a portapotti, as we have some toilet/bathroom facitlities in the house until they start to gut it. That may be the temp solution and we'll not put any drains in at least until the house plans are drawn up, perhaps while we're waiting for planning permission...
Your idea that we just stick it on the drive 'til the builders are on site may be a stroke of genius, as it doesn't need to be permanently sited until we have to move out of here. I don't think the front driveway is currently wide enough, but that wall's probably coming down anyway.... we're itching to get up there at least for the weekends. We're living in cramped rental accommodation with a tiny garden, when we have 4 plus acres a twenty minute walk up the road.
Mr Quarryman seems like the man to get things done around here (so we'r hoping) so we'll see what he thinks tonight. If we could only get the
Glad the drive idea may help.
I was hoping the static could stay there until the everything was in place with the new standing & the static could be put in it's permanent place.
The builders could help to move it from the driveway to the hard standing after all the necessary drainage, septic tank & hardcore work had been finished.
Of course, that would mean they'd have to be tackling all that side of things first & that may not be what you want to do.0 -
LIR...... i have been out in the woods "rescuing" small holly trees/bushes. they said to me "we are fed up being stuck under these bigger bushes and want a view of hills and the odd tank and soldier and explosion now and then to look at instead" so i granted thier wish cos im kind.....:D:D0

Whilst it did entail "killing [selling] the golden goose" as the practice was pretty lucrative, at least I maintained my sanity. The timing was opportunistic as it was just before the housing market went totally bonkers so I was able to use the money I got from the sale to buy some properties and become a landlord (I'm a nice one

Edit: in truth i think the two lives work for us well when they work. Dh is a polymath, and whiole he goes gung ho with enthusiam put here, i think maintaining the demands of work is good for him in some ways. He loves the travel. He is from a very cosmopolitan background, and his family use planes lioke buses, i think a change of scene always refreshes him. He came home this week loaded wipth goodies from germany and italy. There is always some one we know or family where ever he goes.
Its changed since crunch. He was away regularly before, now we don't know. Months and months with no travel, then last year brussels with no notice for no set time period. Where he is doesn't matter too much to us if we have a routine or knowledge he can get back here, which brussels didn't offer. He has been at the mercy of some fairlybnasty office politics during the last six months, which played out a long crescendo between brussels and last week.....or rather we hope last week was the end of it.
We need his salary to pay for the dream, and he went into law initially to pay for my medical treatment and some security. He was a reasonably successful musician before that.0 -

Snowing on & off but nice between showers so Bushmaned up some drftwood as OH started on the cladding - it's going on really well & it's great to start covering up the bright green building paper that you can see for miles off - Douglas Fir is much nicer.
One hen was getting pecked half to death this afternoon - back of head opened up - glad I was about. So she's in her own house tonight & run - she'll be a while healing I would think - sickening. Glad we have the extra houses we made & the fenced hen runs - best thing I did. Got packing ebay stuff to do tonight - turned out not too bad - but it is a lot of effort & faff really. Still it gets a few boxes empty out of the shed.0 -
Chickens can be vile, can't they?
Luckily never had too many problems...mainly when i end up with boys.
Stunning afternoon here, warm i the sun. Tonight the temps have plummetted again. But a red, red, red sunset, so a dry day tomorrow with luck! Eighteen degrees by the end of the week!
Special girl and i might take a pootle down the road, only cleaning her will be a nightmare. I have considered...and i am not joking, taking the hoove over to the yard to get the worst off her! It will take hours otherwise!0 -

Well i havent moved off the sofa today, every time i have got up i have been really dizzy, feeling better a bit now, but still a bit light headed..When i had my inner ear infection a few months ago, the dizzy spell would only last a few seconds, so if i still got it tomorrow, i will go to the doctors.....best way to discribe it, its like when you are drunk and the room is spinning round,
Roozee are you a solicitor? are you good at reading legal packs for auction properties?Work to live= not live to work0
