The trouble with poultry shows is that all the birds are behind bars and that doesn't help photography at all. The lighting at this one also made egg pictures inaccurate, but there were some weird colours on display.
Apart from just rubbernecking, we went there to find reputable breeders of the birds we want to buy next, including a new source for Australorps. I'm pleased to say we did that.
Here are a couple of Sussex cockerels that caught my eye. Sussex is another breed we'd like to try this year when the new chicken house goes up.0 -

Well i havent moved off the sofa today, every time i have got up i have been really dizzy, feeling better a bit now, but still a bit light headed..When i had my inner ear infection a few months ago, the dizzy spell would only last a few seconds, so if i still got it tomorrow, i will go to the doctors.....best way to discribe it, its like when you are drunk and the room is spinning round,
Roozee are you a solicitor? are you good at reading legal packs for auction properties?
Not famous, but well known in some small circles.. he plays most instruments. If he doesn't leave him alone with in for thirty minutes and he'll be able to play something half way decent on it. His favourite instrument, the one he would call his, is the sax. He also plays concert standard piano and violin, his main instrument at guildhall when he went was double base, and he makes a decnet sound with the clarinet....which plays like a saxophone. He writes a little .....no tunes any one is likely to have heard, but a couple of things used as bbc jingles....the sort of music you don't notice. He has supported and played with people everybody knows, and at top venues here and in us. He also did some music jounalism. Right now he is producing a posthumous album of someone he knew on behalf of the widow. He will not consider keeping a penny of any profit, but its jazz so unlikely to make bucket loads. He has also been asked to play at a jazz festival next year.....its not uk, so we are hoping it will be feasable!
We met while both recording bits for someone else. Quite romantically dh listened to my recording and asked who i was. When asked why he was interested dh said "becuase you are going to introduce us and then i am going to marry her ". His premonision missed out the bits where i wasnot interested and where i was so terribly ill, but he was right! He met me at a gig of his. We got engaged exactly a year later, married a year after that.0 -
evening folks......
ive just been treated to a pub meal by my cousin ,im taking her to heathrow wednesday as she's back to canada
ive sold a few items and have just packaged them up to post tomorow... the rest are time up tomorow night so will see if im actually in the black rather than the red then !!! i might sell at a carboot sale next week but im afraid im a bit of a wuss for getting up THAT early and driving that far....:o [our local ones dont start till well into march/april] so will see how i feel by then...:D
rozee.....having got "cess pits" on the brain now...:D i think moving your static twice will be a nightmare/problematic.. you can link a pipe from your static to the cess pit easily. at festivals they use pipes that go 1ft down and have surface boards over the trench as its not deep. also it will be finer weather so wont freeze etc. it wont be for long will it. i think the builders might find the fact the drive is "blocked" a hinderance ie supplies/vehicles/ deliveries etc.
you mentioned how the lorries etc can move over potentially boggy ground. you could hire/buy tracking mats. they come in either high density plastic mesh [we have them on track to one of our fields. or hire the metal roll out ones they use at car shows/vehicle traffic shows. i will find out the cost of the lighter plastic mesh ones. they are very strong, used here for heavy landrover use. grass can grow through,it just stabalises the route.
i expect you are by now a tad sick of all our suggestions but if even ONE amongst ours so far helps, its maybe worth the pain !!:D
LIR.... the holliewollies are only about 1ft to 18" high at mo but im having a word with them that if they are gonna fit in between the big guys they have gotta grow....fast !!:D
We've decided we're not going to put the static on the path now, for the reason you suggest, but on the other side of the house, where the land is less boggy and there's easier access from the path up to what is currently the garage. We will either relocate the hardcore or temporarily site the caravan where we intend to permanently locate the detached garage so we can leave the standing there and use it for the garage to stand on.
We are going to do the drains as you suggest, so they can be uprooted later when we resite to its permanent home. Hopefully, everything can be recycled, except the labour costs!0 -
