We are getting the start of snow here at the moment, very frustrating as I have a flat tyre and I need to go on an errand today so looks like snow boots and a hat for me!

I planted up a few seeds today chillies, leeks, toms and artichokes. It was lovely to be back working with dirt again ;)

You are going to hate this Rummer...

It was lashing down this morning but right now it is brilliant sunshine, if windy.

Been to get potatoes and to talk to Mr Romans.

Have bought to much really because I like to grow some of the unusual stuff.

Alan said that last year everyone was off heritage tats because of the blight and this year they are all mad keen again.

There are quite a few varieties that have been cleaned up over the years and are now in circulation again.

Got Red Duke of York, Witchhill, Arran Victory, Highland Burgundy, Shetland Black, Yeltholm Gypsy and Fortyfold which has a very distinctive flavour. Also a couple of mini-tubers of blue fleshed varieties; I do not really like Salad Blue so hope one of these will be nicer.

And a few Sarpo for the storage potential.

RAS - Red Duke of Yorks are good as is Shetland blacks & I've kept seed of that & that works out fine. Look a bit yuck on the plate like. Sarpo are good - grew those last year & also Arran are great tatties.

Well it's blubbery cold but feel I must get out & gather twigs at least. Really bitter but better than getting fat at the stove.

It was slashing down at lunchtime, but it's quite bright & sunny now. I'll send it your way alfie. :)

However, I'm indoors resting, as I've picked-up DW's throat bug and I'd rather get the last Panto performance over before I do anything silly.....No, that's wrong....I'm resting so that I can still be properly silly tonight! cheeky-smiley-025.gif

Panto's been hard, but we've sold out every night, so there will be a good haul for local charities. Heck, last night they sold £70 worth of wine before the curtain went up!

Spending the time as sensibly as I can this pm, going through all the bank accounts. Only a few quid in some, but it saves re-applying when we switch. I haven't been making our savings work hard enough lately, so must make some changes.:o

Rummer _ I usually take my fleeces into the Wool Board & the past two years the prices have slightly crept up. I have advertised them & sold a couple that way, but it's not worth the hassle, but sould try ebay after they're sheared this year - should set up a seperate business account I suppose.

Well what a windy, hail storm night - snow here & the wind is biting. The ebay sales seem rather slow for me.

Do you not get rpa? I thought you had to have a separate business acc for that? I have just arranged for a digger to come and put a ditch in for a road side hedge, so that ps where most of this years will go.....

I had better find somewhere to buy holly at a decent height now....

Boards rather dodgy at the mo.

Took ages to log in and have to refresh the board everytime anyone posts to see the new posts.

    Off to dig.

Dry and bright now but just popped out and it is bitterly cold  the errand has been run so I think I will settle down and spin in front of the fire. Currently making a mess of some gorgeous grey shetland fleece :o

Looks like the best i can do is 124 inc delivery for 18 potted hollies of between 60 & 80 cms. Thats two a metre for the shortish run. Most places recommed three, what do you guys think, these are bigger plants than the 30 cm ones they also recommend at three per metre, and there will be a fence for "security" while they thicken up.....

Do you guys think we could make do with fewer?
  • cleared up here now..

but i have a big decision to make, should i go to whitneys funeral or ready my march addition of country life:cool::rotfl:

Sorry? What's rpa? I do have a business account, but to sell fleeces on ebay I would need a buisness sellers account.
