there is a cartoonist of the same name in australia/NZ but dont think its him... it couldnt go on display as it IS offensive to many !!
I knew only of the Australian one, whose cartoons used to baffle me when I was a kid. Thought they were crap compared with the Beano! :rotfl:
Right, before I Panto again tonight, I shall post the rest of the seeds, but don't get excited, the box won't be emptied until 14.15 tomorrow.
How's your Panto alfie? Ours is a bit like slave labour, with a massive amount of time & effort put in by those working behind the scenes as well as in front. DW has done nothing except costumes for 2 weeks and I've taken about as long to learn two lines.....:o0 -

The only problem with them, is that the flowers hardly last any time at all.
I presume ours are all opium poppies, we get all different colours.
But after the flower you get the seed head which is beautiful too....like a liitle alien temple.
I love my californian poppies too....there strange flying saucer and spike shape before opening and as seed heads0 -

Was just going to post the same message about you, encouraging me to go to all the auctions!
Been at Carmarthen auction all day and totally knackered. Wont lose much overall but prob wont make much either. Sleeper may be a repaired ca 1800 pratt ware frog cup, we'll see.
Bought a clock too, sight unseen, but hope to do well on it even so.
Anyhow you're on the slippery slope now, you'll have the dealer tag in no time0 -

i used to do the auctions years ago BUT before the bay... so it was selling straight to the buyer [usually furniture] also being given stuff from various well to do's who obviously thought theyde humour my magpie tendencies....:D remember a chair for 2-3£s i sold for £60 [my mother said id not a hope and she would have burnt it...:rotfl::rotfl:] theres always a buyer..:D i must admit i can sell sand to the arabs face to face...but harder doing the bay...:o0 -

OK it might be a bit more than two lines, but I'm one of the smaller roles.dave....im sorry to say after my disgust at the stuck up moo's [producer] behaviour, ive been dragging my heels somewhat. iv lost my ooompf with them all. its not got the same laughs/banter like last year.
That's a shame.:( I'd say our crowd behave more like a well-oiled machine. There's a bit of fun backstage, but most energy is saved for the performance. Even the children volunteer, knowing they'll need to do 22 hours in the final week, most of those staying quiet just off stage. Makes me smile when I hear 'kids have no stamina these days' etc!
Our village is quite small, so people are proud to be producing a panto when those in other villages and the nearby town have folded. And it's a panto written within the village too, not bought-in....though writing it gives one of our friends nightmares!0 -
I always enjoyed doing pantos. Even professionals get up to mischief at panto time so I have a good few funny stories too but not for wider public consumption
I've still got some old photos, programmes & memorabilia in my scrapbooks.0 -
Hi all,
its great now, you can notice it getting lighter and lighter when we come home from work, cant wait until feb is over, as in march we start seeing some nice sunny and warmer days ( normally)
I used to love going to auctions, especially the general ones, which had a mixture of modern and antique, with boxes of tat, to rummage through, but there was allways some hidden gems in them.
one of my best buys was a HUGE pile of vintage stitch/sewing magazines a complete run from the early 1940's right through to the early 1970's, bought them for the purse bashing amount of a £1 the whole lot....lol... boy did i make some money off them, the sold from anything from £3- 6 eachWork to live= not live to work0
