That sounds great Maggie, I am sure you will enjoy the show, and the parking will probably be very well organised, taking some of the stress out of it.

Do you think it is too cold/early in the year to cut the hedge? It is looking a bit wild however I do not want to do it any harm.
depending on the type of hedge.....i generally leave well alone if frost/freeze about as if it gets frosted after cutting it could have too much die back.and then takes longer to replenish or leaves patches when it does grow. if its like wild hedging, beech, hawthorn etc it may be ok but id leave till frost/freeze past myself....sorry as i KNOW you are desperate to "do" something !!!

Ooo, remind me what your tomatoes are like please :)

    Well, they're round and juicy.......:D

Sorry, it's Panto Week here, so I won't be around much. However, I did get RAS's seeds into the post yesterday and I can do some more. :)

The tomatoes are either Ben's Early Vine, which is the quick but straggly one from Real Seeds, or Golden Sunrise. I also have some white perennial stock (Matthiola incana) and seed from a rather nice deep red poppy that just sprang up here, as they do.

I'll try to find a piccie of the latter and post it. As it was the only one around here, it may come true.

I would like to try a couple of the Bens early vine please, if that's OK. I'll pm you.

Sigh :(, I had a feeling that would be the case. That is why I asked as I need people with common sense to keep saying no in a firm and caring way :rotfl:

    I just wanna start :j

  • This list may help if you know what type the hedge is, Rummer.
There's also a bit more information on this page

Hedge laying down here is traditionally between October - March when the sap is dormant.

Oh thank you for that information :D It is a standard dark evergreen hedge and it does need quite a bit of TLC as a number of gaps have appeared along the bottom and it needs to thicken so I am going to read up about it to make sure we are doing all we can to support it ;)

The poppy mentioned earlier. Picture isn't 100% accurate on colour, but if anything, it was nicer. Just a common or garden opium type, I know. :)
