its also the rquirement for us outside if we want anything other than brilliant white or black: our area's listing must get an Fand B bung, lol.

Mixing up lime to choice sounds fun, a much nicer way to get colour...but then those must be hard to touch up, unlike the brilliant white?

That sounds ominously like some National Trust areas where everything has to be the same colour.
You're probably right about the bung :D

The natural limewash just needs a good stir & that gives you white. If you want colours then you can either go non-MSE & buy pigments or, if you have an aggie supply account make your own. From the basic colours you can make just about any variation.
Actually, most mixes keep well & touching up is very easy once you know how limewash works - it's completely different from ordinary paints.
Blue pigments are more of a nuisance because once mixed they can start to degrade within 2 weeks (depending on how deep you want the colour) & will eventually go white if mixed but not used.
If you want to really experiment it's just a case of making sure you keep a record of the 'recipe' you use.
On average a lime-washed wall can easily go 15-20 years before re-doing. Most people tend to want a change of colour before that.

Just had an interesting message left on the phone from a house we viewed last year. We've been in 'contact' as they want to move but its got to be the right property as they weren't in a hurry. Now it seems they could be moving later in 2012 and were 'touching base'. It's a gorgeous house with I think 5 acres-ish. Trouble is we've put a lot of dosh into the business. Still worth a phone call to see how the land lies.

here's to thee old apple tree,
    whenst though mayst but
    whenst thou mayst blow,
    Hats full! Caps Full!
    Bushell bushell sacks full!

    huzzah!

We've done all the new pears and the two apples that are here to stay. Our friends dropped out (sick pet) so dh suggested an ancient rite of fertility after we'd had a little dance and sing outside, but....I'm not sure where picnic blanket with the waterproof underside is and the water will take hours to heat up for a bath after so I suggested we come inside for a piece of cheese instead. :)

Definitely; a buyer in the hand is worth a lot of failed mortgage applications and downgraded valuations to them, and a realistic price to you. ;):D
