There are a few of us around the central belt of Scotland so please do not leave me behind :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:think of me as donkey from Shrek leaping up and down shouting "tell me!"Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0

I bought a similar styled book recently for my OH written by someone who got a holding in Newcastle Emlyn, Carmarthenshire. My OH's conclusion was that it was enough to put you off or at leawst to realise that there's no way you could make a living from it - we bought anyway, but we have another source of income, so for the most part, it will be a hobby - and in all likelihood, knowing my personality, a fairweather hobby!Apropo farming, I was given this for Christmas http://www.anton-coaker.co.uk/index.html
Dave may know his writing from the Western Mail?
Not a small-holder (Duchy tenant right up on Dartmoor) but some interesting comments on things like SFP, DEFRA (or whoever they are now) and EID, as well as a few fantasy pieces like the first one on a rather fiesty loaned bull going amok.
Funny sometimes but some reality checks for dreamers.0 -

evening all.........
today i have clambered in and over 9 cars in a barn ranging from "ive seen better wheel barrows" to "thats not bad"
and then to go through all the details of each ie...heap of rust to needs restoring !! with the old gent owner... he is reluctant to sell but to be honest the farmer is charging him £300 p.m. to store em in an otherwise unuseable barn and he cant afford to restore them himself now so have to try and sell them for him.
P.S. classic car owners pay good money to dry store thier vehicles if you have a spare barn...LIR ??;)
....in the rain.... i sorted out all my sheds and behind them and filled the trailer for the tip.. set off to get to the tip before it shut and when i got there, big sign saying POLICE ACCIDENT at the entrance with a wet bedraggled worker waving people away ???
ooooo will find out what happened tomorow,:D so iv got a trailer on back of van still full which means will have to go to the other tip tomorow...[cant chance it shut tomorow too] so bang goes my saturday morning....:(
im walking past a big patch of new paint color on my hall wall to see if i like/can live with it ! hate it if i get it wrong as theres a lot of wall in my hall, stairs and landing....:(0 -

I think as I'm terminally hopelesss at "interior decorations" that when we finally finish the bungalow, I'm going round to one of the houses we've viewed as an example of one of the architect's/builder's work and asking for his palette. He's painted all his rooms in lovely pastel colours. Like!evening all.........

The thickest kinds are branded Phormisol and Mypex and they are made from woven polypropylene:Davensave, I want to cover my beds with the weed suppressant matting, which is the best one?

or

Or there is a lighter, easier to work with, spun fibre alternative, like this:

I have only ever used the Phormisol/Mypex, and not much comes through that, but it does fray where you cut it.
Haven't seen the Western Mail (Welsh newspaper) for a few years now, but we all need reality checks; just not too many at once! :eek:Apropo farming, I was given this for Christmas http://www.anton-coaker.co.uk/index.html

Our sheep left us today. Pete might bring some back, but right now they will be better elsewehere and the land will get a rest. As before, he says our rough old grass on the top field has made the most popular haylage so far as the bullocks are concerned.
