    evening all......

very weird weather today. sunshine then really heavy windy rain..?? i put hay out for the horses as although they have grass ,its looking a bit tired now...they all got stuck into the hay which is usually a sign they REALLY want it as opposed to it just "being there" !

checked on my poorly friends animogs and all still standing....2 big chooks had small wounds on thier leg ?? seemed a bit quiet ? nothing can get at them so must be an internal squabble ??

iv stocked up on sacks of coal just incase the weather changes for the worse and theres a local rush on supplies !!

can i put grass seed down in january or is it too early ? my lawn is mud and i thought maybe seeds would stick in better ??

MABEL is SOOOOOOOOOOOO grumpy ?? maybe she knows if weather is gonna change ??? OR she is just fed up of mud..[shes not a normal pig....doesnt like mud unless its summer and iv filled her wallow with water !!]

i want to paint all my hallway.. ive got test colors all over the wall ! iv chosen like a victorian type faded green. with white paintwork . look a tad smarter BUT im hesitant in starting it so soon after my "blip"....incase i over do it.... cant believe i said that!me being carefull....??

One of the most interesting things I've ever been told is that just before it snows is a great time to sow grass.....its insulated, its bedded in and its kept damp and out of the sight of birds. Grass is tough stuff.

IMO, its more about temps.....we've still got growth, so I'd risk sowing a small area.

I last hung hay nets sunday before last and they are still half full :( Depressing, the decreasing value and goodness of my hay :(

    Well back.

Balmy or barmy? 14 degree C in Bristol at lunch-time; a fair bit colder up here, although mainly the high winds.

choille - hope you miss the worst of it.

See you all tomorrow (maybe - family to visit in the enxt couple of days)

    hey...we're you ''down here'' then?

its been barmy weather here....it has rained everytime I left the house until this afternoon when at about 1 the sun suddenly appeared. by four it felt colder than it has in a long while.

by party ..i DO NOT mean cucumber sarnies !!:)
iv sussed out 2 lads who are brilliant buskers to come round..

SO when ive sorted a date ANY OF YOU ARE WELCOME...understandably distance being a minor detail BUT i have 3 bedrooms spare for overnight/longer stays.

Horribly windy again today so went off again to keep sane & get some more hay & cash in some Morrissons vouchers that we almost forgot & they had to be redeemed before Old Year's Day. Loads of tree brances down & one fir tree down the road - they were felling there the other day & they've exposed what's left to the full force of the wind.

There's a patch of half dead firs a couple of miles off & there are so many trees snapped & laying against each other & over-hanging the road that they should be forced to make it safe. Coming cooler again & a flurry of snow on the way home, but nothing here but wet mud & slippy as Hades going down to the hen houses.

windy here to day. light drifts of rain being carried on the wind. we had today earmarked for an ''outdoor work'' day but its far too horrid, almost like winter, so instead we're about to curl up and read together on the sofa.

Wind seems to be general today and the rain and bluster looks like carrying on into tomorrow. A pity, as the land was just starting to dry out a bit. :(

I have a tyre to change, but after that, it's just a case of how long I can stand the racket in the old polytunnel. Lots to do; weevils to kill & that sort of thing. ;)

Everyone else is shopping, so I might just misbehave myself on here, instead of working....:)
  • Yes, mucky here, too. The wind has dropped a tad. It was playing at xylophone impressions on the slates last night.

    Nothing to do today.
Looking out of the window the animals that I can see (ponies & sheep) seem pretty content. The only thing that disrupts their grazing is the onset of another shower when they stop long enough to turn tail, put their bums to the wind & rain ..... & continue eating :D

Anyone doing anything exciting for New Year?
