That looks more like a horse chestnut to me. They're the ones that bungie jump on individual stalks.
Sweet chestnuts usually grow more closely to the leaves & often in little clumps, I think.0 -

I'm very aware of those particular 'danglies,' as the house we rented in '09 had one of these next door and it totally dominated the gardens around. I don't think the old couple who owned it had seen the sun in 40 years!0
