:rotfl: I thought you'd gone all morbid on us.
I hope you get a reasonable night. Do you have painkillers for the back problem?

We pick the keys up tomorrow. It's our ninth anniversary. And I'm too excited to sleep!!!

Sorry to hear about your back Alfie. The twins put mine out last week after a marathon breastfeeding all nighter that they pulled cos they were ill. I spent a morning lying on the floor spasming!

    oh alfie....take care......

    hurrah rozzee! Its so exciting.....
tactfully try and tell him wat
I'm going shopping with my dad today....its going to be farcial. He's always had a PA to sort out gifts ...who new what perfume and toiletries the women in my family liked what size clothes dh wears etc etc. First year on his own and the first thing we have to do is return an Mand S multipack of socks which he bought for a friend and are the wrong size. Now I have to tactfully try and tell him that socks aren't generally that great a gift................while not looking at anything hideous myself in case he thinks my look suggests wanting it....

Be gentle on your dad. My favourite present this year would be a pack of M&S knickers - there's not much more I need (apart from a refurbished house, but that's to come :T)

Oooh, nearly forgot to thank alfie for the goose duet video, which cheered-up someone doomed to go Christmas shopping this morning. :)

As I was saying elsewhere, visiting 'civilization' involved being attacked by 3 gigantic seagulls, which stole part of DW's sandwich and clouted me on the head.

I'm afraid I reacted instictively and exactly as I would have done at home. It wasn't 'correct behaviour' for Cathedral Green! :o:o

Still, the smaller, well-behaved terns got the spillage. One good tern & all that.....:rotfl:
(Insert raunchy joke about Dave still being able to attract all the birds)

    :D

dh had a prawn sandwich pinched from him by gulls in Brizzle. He was very furious at first, then felt sorry for the birds that they couldn't get their own when they fancied one.....so bought them another one.

its lead to many existential discussions here. e.g.Big Dog loves marmite on toast and while she is not generally a thief she obviously finds marmte har to resist. Some vets etc say its anthropomorphic to suggest animals can lie there thinking ''cor, could murder a marmite sarnie right now'' bu they dream of chasing and eating etc, its POSSIBLE tey consciously want and and we don't know. some commincation studies (e.g. teaching chimps with flash cards or birds who learn words to comunicate have shown they repeatedly ask for favourite treats, but I'm suggesting something very slightly different here )

    lol, exactly.

The prblem is that not being anthropomorphic is often confused (not least by vets) as acceptig animals have no feelings or ability of conscious forethought. The fact is behavioral research frequently indicates otherwise.

what I used to say when in a position to be listened to...''not imagine what you would like in your animal's position but what you would like if you were that animal''.
