It's not me that found it!
My record for a find is a bit more than that, but like every other treasure hunter, it's the one that someone else got to first that really sticks in my mind.0 -
update, still putting the pennies into my pot which is getting heavier by the day.
going to wait until sunday and then cash out my free scratchcard money.
had a good week this week in wor and managed to sell some levi jeans to a local ebayer, and an antique dealer bought a few welsh blankets and old quilts of me so i got a gtrand total of £247 to add to the fund:T
i have had a few ebay sales, and will plodd along and when i get to £50 after ebay has taken their fees out i will add this to my fund.
Been following the become self sufficient thread which is brilliant, so i have joined in, as this is what my ultimate goal is for my daydream fund:D
hope the rain stops as i am itching to get out into the garden
If not might list some books on Amazon even if they are just the penny books, as there are no upfront fees, and if htey dont sell i dont get charged, so nothing to loose...lol...Work to live= not live to work0 -

going back into the greenhouse to do some more transplanting....
managed to get some more pennies into the saving tin, suprising how much loose change hubby puts by the side of the bed when he empties his pockets every night:rolleyes::D
either tomorrow or monday i really do need to do a load of batch cooking, as this will help me with our weekly budget,
hope everyone is having a good Easter weekend.

Afternoon all
Its glorious here too -thats about 6 days in a row now -although it has been kind enough to rain a little in the evening and to be a bit hazy first thing in the morning -so my brassica seelings are loving it :TI know they are only tiny -but they will soon get going ..
I have also had hubby constructing-I have my arches stood in 2 tubs so have put a bit tub under each and got hubby to make strings going from the lip of the tub and upto the top of the arch to form a wigwam structure for more beans to grow up -plus it will help anchor the arches down
So I will have 2 kinds of bean -1 up each side of the arch and 2 kinds in the round tubs.... then sweetcorn along 1 narrow edge -using the beans as a windbreak and the arch to tie them to, and the other narrow edge will have the short beans in that need no support :rotfl:-Along where that arch is I have 4 arches and 3 round tubs :jI had to leave one archway clear for walking through .... I think you can see what I mean
My seedlings upstairs are doing well -still loads more to set -so will get some more done tomorrow..
The dustbins for my sweet potato slips has had the black plastic on for a week now and when I lifted it to test it -its really warm under there -so a couple more days and the slips will go out ..they are more than ready look
On the saving money side -I have managed to work out that I can squirrel another €70 away this month and when we get paid on the 25th the €450 housekeeping will be able to go straight into the savings account again :j
Triker - I think Im setting my sights on a house with a bigger garden-I have seen several in the area I come from for about £100,000 at the moment ...a bit more achievable me thinks :rotfl:

Don't give up your dreams.
A few years ago I bought a croft in the highlands & alright we are living in a caravan as we build our own house - slowly, as money allows us to buy materials & the weather allows us to build, but it is all possible with determination.0 -
Choille that was really inspiring, thank you!
Sorry Dave for the mistake, that will teach me to read posts more carefully!
I have yet to save any money towards my fund but I am steadily paying off my debts so that is a step in the right direction and this thread has kept me focussed. I was looking at properties yesterday and I think that m eyes are much bigger that my budget. I save a fabulous house (ok castle) with 10 acres and equestrian facilities which would be my dream. I would so love to have a couple of horses as well as a variety of different animals. Only slight draw back was the price tag which was a cool £495k :eek:
If I save every spare penny I should be able to afford it in about 60 years!Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
MRSM you have been busy... in reality i should try for something more achievable,...so thats why the farm i seen tonight on the internet is 130k less than the other one...lol... at ONLY 220k:eek: well at least its is going in the right direction...
its about half way down the page, Nant Hir Farm

I know this is a daydream thread, but if you are going for achievable then surely mortgageability comes into it? I'm not sure that Nant Hir would make it on that score! When you look at the whole smallholding thing, there's also the cost of decent outbuildings to factor in as well, so cutting down on acreage and boosting the quality of the buildings would be more realistic, I think.
Your budget is a tough one, but here's one that is mortgageable. I know it isn't in your area. It doesn't have much in the way of outbuildings, though you'd save on not needing to do up the house. Someone would get this for about £225k

If you press 'go' on the map, you get a decent large map/aerial view, though the marker goes to the wrong place. The property is actually next to the pub car park on the B road corner/crossroads, and that's the down-side. (there's always one!) However, the pub is a failed business and is also for sale, so it may go the way of many rural pubs!
In a way, I agree with Mrsmcawber, in that animals are a rather expensive luxury. I don't mean chickens, or even the odd pig or goat, but the sort of animals that have you needing more than about an acre. Go much above that size and the price starts creeping up.0 -
Afternoon all
It was so warm this morning that I have transplanted 8 of the sweet potato slips into their dustbins :T -I have done 1 lot through black plastic and the others straight into the compost -to see if the results vary much. Just need to make some clear plastic sheeting into shower caps to cover them over and then just keep watering and waiting -150days of warmth they like .... I have sunk a garden torch holder into the compost so I can pour water straight into the middle -and if I poke a thin cane through it I will be able to check there is enough moisture in there... I will add the other slips in a few days when they have caught up
I also got a few potatoes set... just in buckets -4 different varieties ..just for the sake of itgrowing in tubs Im only doing the early potatoes for salads.. just don't have the room for the old ones -plus come autumn winter I can get them here for as little as€1.49 for 10kg ..
anyway -hope everyone is out n about in their gardens-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50
