when i go to look at car boot sales i avoid the "baby" stalls like the plague and look for GENUINE chuck out stalls that are not doing the same stuff week in week out ! variety produces purchases !

Problem was, alfie, literally nobody was buying anything but baby stuff & 2nd hand clothes so we decided it wasn't worth the effort. There's waiting lists as long as your arm for antique/bric-a-brac market stalls (which would probably have been more suitable) so we thought "B!!!!r it" & called a charity who came with big vans.

Isn't it a nightmare arranging all the postage when you live out in the sticks? A friend is always off to the PO to send things that she's sold but she can walk around the corner to the PO. It's not that easy when you live miles away from it.

Having a lot of trouble with the relately new owner of local PO, but usually post off 70 miles off when we go over to the East coast now, but that'll be somewhat curtailed with the Winter if the last two are owt to go by.

For "relatively new" do I read don't know what they're doing or already disillusioned with rural life? I imagine running a small rural PO can, like running a pub, be something that people might dream of ....... until they actually try it.

No, 70 miles in winter is going to be really tough & often impossible, I'd guess :(

We actually looked at doing car boot sales when we first realised just how much stuff we'd accumulated that needed to go. Unfortunately, after a good recce, we knew that we didn't fulfil the clothes/baby clothes bracket that are the popular stall items around here. :(

I car boot every Sunday, and sell the items too bulky or too low value to sell on Ebay. I change the mix each week to keep variety going, but little of it is clothes. I limit sales volume as I'm not chucking out stuff but selling things I've bought. Anyone can sell at a loss:eek:. So I've just ordered 1000 polythene bags off Ebay to display the linen we bought this week and two weeks back.

The banter's usually fun as well :)

I think it's probably just a local problem here. It's an enormous car boot sale held regularly but the buyers seem to only go for the same sort of things. Anyway, too late to worry now!

 Is nobody else having problems with Thanks tonight? I've been up & down this ruddy page more than half a dozen times & each time I come back all the Thanks buttons have reappeared.

I think she is a complete Gorgon & has *issues*. I don't sleep the night before if I have to go there & often the post doesn't go as the macinery is down - it's too weird & annoying.

Well I made a quiche tonight - not our own eggs ( or even the hens:rotfl:) It was tasty if I say so myself.

Must do some photographing tomorrow - now that's tricky!

I ate the thanks buttons - there really rather tasty - bit like bounty bars.
  • It's awkward when it's parcels. It's not like you can get away without going to the PO.

I found ebay more hassle than it was worth to sell on, however I have picked up quite a few beautiful things which I doubt I would have got for the price I paid anywhere else.

Rhiwfield and Alfie if you come across anything Tudor or Art deco then please let me know :D

I love the demi tasse cups Rhiwfield has on ebay atm but I've had to stop buying vintage crockery as I've run out of room for it.

Those wooden printing letters are lovely too. I think we need a bigger house!
