Would you like some of that bronze coloured trefoil stuff that has yellow flowers to add to the mix? I'm digging up loads right now, and the roots seem to regrow from the tiniest bit. Driving me mad! Might be a nice addition if you don't have your own source?

That even grows up inside my backdoor in the house.

    :o

Bee club said they've never seen bees recover from the decimation our hive has had, so I might be fighting the inevitable. :( The wasps have found them again after a move from the old site (via unconventional method). The bees coped with the move, but can't cope with the wasps, and I think I saw dead things in cells...so not hatching properly. :(

I really hate wasps now. :(

I really am in a tizz the last day or so......my head is swirling, and is clear as my little duck pond( hole in the ground filled with water..lol..) hopefully it will all become clearer in the next few days....

Managing to start reining in our spending again....as our food and general spending starfting to run a bit..

no wonder i was finding it hard to save.. but even with the cutting back, and more or less meal planning, the shopping budget i cant get below £60 - £70, this does not include the animal food...

I really do feel for pensioners and people who havent got any flexibility in their income... as you end up robbing peter to pay paul...

I also feel for people who are in debt now... its never easy dont get me wrong... but now with prices going up, they are on an upward struggle... looking back it was 'flipping' ( i want to say a swear word) hard, but now i think its even tougher to try and get out of debt....I was lucky as there were more loopholes with money off coupons etc so in effect for quite a long time i never paid the correct amount for the shopping i had...

nice day here... at the mo, it is a bit cooler than the last few days, got to go to work for a hour or so, and then might go out hte garden and try and sort out the 'wilderness' . even though we literly hacked the honey suckle to death, ( to be honest we were hoping we killed it) it has come back with vengance...lol.. and is now getting me back by quicky growing over part of our greenhouse... so i think i might go and see if i can plant up any of the rooted runners from it, etc so maybe they can be sold on next year...

CTC - I feel the same for folks who are on a small pension etc. It is so difficult just now. We eat well but cheaply. I don't do hairdressers etc. We very rarely go out. One of our biggest expenses is the animals & fuel for the car, but can't do much about either at the moment.
Stuff seems to be going up every week in price. We do shop about & only buy some stuff ie coffee when it's on offer. I don't know how I afforded to smoke.

TBH, if your fixed outgings are big enough those on a decent salary aren't finding it easy. We now have the london plac esitting empty but still being paid for which is a PITA and because we have no idea when dh will be back not sure what to do about it. Unwilling to let it go if it really is only three months he'll be away because its walking distance to work. :( Tickets to Brussels and paying people to do stuff dh would normally do are going to put a strain on us.

Spot on, thats why it was only when when I gave up my job and sold my flat in London that we could take an axe to the overheads, and not before. No more daily commute by tube, no more weekly commutes home, no service charges, separate leccy bills, council tax, mortgage interest payments.

But with inflation hitting essentials, more people who dont consider themselves poor or needy are going to feel the pinch and move into "official" poverty.

Oh, Lotus Eater, I'm raising a well deserved glass of red to you and your new missus!! Congratulations!!

Anyhow, suns still shining, the field has been raked, toads and spiders examined, and lots of sweaty people gone back home or to the beach. About time for some autumnal weather.

today I learnt that geese will do almost anything for an apple. Including taking on a half bred shire horse and each other.

I think its hilarious how fast the grass is gowing now. I'm a bit frustrated that my pasture managment has been so excellent as I was offered some organic muck to be spread but my grazing rotation is working so brilliantly I don't want to (literally) muck it up.

    evening all.

iv had a very [very] large pimms for LOTUS EATER tonight. so consider yourself totally responsible for any misdamenours hereon in.....:D

iv been to a carboot this morning but found it hard going walking round so gave up.....:(
took my mum and dads dog to the kennels as they off on thier hols [again !! 80&85 yrs old ...] mum wants her to stay with me but my dad worships her and is convinced it will be too much for her with all the diff animals here...she's elderly now and knows the kennels and they look after her.:)

iv moved my babies into the large ex chook pen and moved [another story!] my chooks, ducks and goosegoggins into thier new shed....

sounds easy doesnt it... iv got a biggish area of trees and rhoddies and to have my feathered friends scattering to all 4 corners made it impossible........so i waited till dusk thinking they will WANT to go to bed,...worked all bar ONE cochin hen who was a perfect match, color wise, with the vegetation  i have literally been through every bush backwards !:o got the little git tho....:D

im paying for my perseverance now tho...just had hot bath to ease limbs...PIMMS helped more tho.....:T

iv got app at hospital tomorow re having a tooth root taken out...tried sitting in the chair with my dentist but bottled it...:o so iv asked to be knocked out.not sure if tomorows the op or just check...best not to know...:D

anyway im waiting to watch good old Downton...love the costumes and furnishings..and maggie smith..:)

The worst night nere was three nights ago, horrendously hot and sticky. Last two nights have been cooler but not cold. Yesterday morning the horses had steam in their nostrils like firebreathing dragons, and the same today....so its autumn in the mornings.

The sunrise felt much later today though, it was a shock to me, and the birds who stayed roosting after I had opened their door.

Anything useful we can do with acorns? I'm going to rake them up soon and the choice atm is compost or burn. I had even wondered if they'd make a good fuel for the wood burner?

I'm meeting with a man who sells wood burning boilers...not pellets which we've ruled out but logs. I'm told they take about a wheel barrow a day to service a whole house which water and heating, and it can be soft wood. My concerns are mainly how often they have to be fed and how easy they'll be to relight when you miss refeeding them. :D
