Yes, it did blow a bit, didn't it? And rain. The trees may be looking like they'll turn in early this year, but the grass & weeds show no signs of slowing down yet. :(

I didn't post because there was nothing to report really, except that DW spotted the fake egg on Monday morning as soon as she examined it. She weighs them all, you know. Customers have to get a balanced half dozen. ;)

I've been doing exciting things, like writing to the people who want to buy our old garden, registering for doing tax returns on-line, (breathing space till January! :D) poring over the architects plans for this place etc.....and spending money on rather dull stuff like galvanised brackets, polythene and fertilizer.

    4.46 am davesnave?

Sweetcorn blown over and wet everywhere, with more to come.

Agreed a sale for DS1's car thats been gracing our garage and drive for the last 2 years while he's doing doctor type things in NZ. And previewed the lots yesterday for this morning's auction, at least its undercover.

Still digging up blighted spuds, so we will have a spud free garden next year and put more down to legumes. If I was totally reliant on our garden for food I'd soon run out of carbohydrates :(

As it is we've had an oversupply of toms, cucumbers, broad beans, runner beans and rhubarb (none wasted though) and fruit has been generally good. And growing the winter squash on the ripe compost heaps has worked a treat, lots of medium size squashes ripening nicely :)

Ho hum, was hoping for an indian summer but September is turning out to be pretty unsettled.

we had a terriable night, the night before last... ended up slates off roof, and water coming in through the bedroom ceiling...:o

rather than pay the inflated prices roofers will be charging to put slates back on roofs ( as the rub their hands..lol..) Hubby managed to put the slates back, not a prfoessional looking jub, but all the same its done...

To be honest the roof does need doing, but i just will not spend money if i can help it on the house...until i know if the developers are going to buy us out or not..

Afer a few weeks of no activity on the supermarket site... there were people there yesturday... so i think it could be any day now that they start doing some sort of work over there:o

need to make an appointment with the doctors, as i have been getting really light headed and disorientated, only lasts a second or two, but they are getting more frequent now... used to have the odd one now and again, but now its a few times a day... think it might have something to do with my blood pressure.....

ooo I think thy have given more rain and gales for the rest of the week:mad:

    I've been Money Tipped!
our electric fences were wiped out yesterday, and some damage to barn doors. Horrifically even the sliding doors were blown open.....resulting in a lot of windswept chooks. Also, the ''dog door'' (a dodgy french window) wasn't locked, just closed, and blew open, along with gsates, so when I awoke yesterday morning it was to two locked out, very tired cold and wet dogs. :( Taught me a lesson about locking the door.

Trees already turning here, davesnave, and tbh, has been a poor grass growth year. The bit that our neighbour took a cut from weeks and weeks ago is still short, and the rested winter grazing, before it was topped, was mainly weed and bennets. The only GOOD thing about it is I have all that last years hay, and might be able to sell some locally if I can get a farmer to move it for a cut of the profit. We won't run out, and that is really what is very important too.

More planning issues here. Something is going on with the planning chap at the council..not very pleased, not very pleased AT ALL in fact.

Quite a 'normal' time for me. I only need 5 hours. Anyway, I'm still on Summer Hen Time. :D

Met Office is predicting a better middle to end of the month, I believe. Doesn't mean it will happen, of course.

My BiL has just had more planning problems too, lir. Looks like he needn't have had them, but was badly advised....by the same people who've just done a re-plan of our bungalow! Still, doesn't matter; DW is re-doing the whole thing 'properly'!!! :rotfl:

Might be low blood pressure. DW gets that. ;)

I used to get it when I was young enough to have low blood pressure. I'd lie on the sofa watching some TV prog, then, when the ad break came, I'd leap up and rush upstairs to the loo. Passed out twice like that, before learning not to do it. :o

appointment made for this afternoon 3.3pm

I know when i went to the doctors to have my 'lady mot' a few months back my blood pressure was high, went back for another blood pressure test, and it was still high..

Hubby and i think it might be withdrawal symptons too, as i used to drink alot of those energy drinks... 2 - 3 a day  it might be my body wanting more caffine...lol..( had my last one, last week)

or stress related, as my stress levels are going through the roof with the pressure of work... and this supermarket..

some days i wish i could just walk away from everything and go and live on top of a mountain like a hermit ( and tell everyone and the world to s@d off ...lol...)with my hubby and kids of coarse, but this is not the lifestyle my kids want now..so it would eventually just be me and hubby....

  • well i am back from the doctors

my blood pressure is still high ( the bottom number is between 101 and 104?), but he wants to monitor it, as he doesnt want to put me on blood pressure tablets just yet.

plus he thinks my 'little turns' has something to do with my inner ear, so i am on tablets for 2 weeks, to see if that sorts it out

by the way the tablets side effects can cuase drowsiness and dizzieness:rotfl: classic..... thats wht i am trying to cure...lol...

didnt want to rattle on about my heart burn/indigestion... lack of energy ( i know what that is, getting up 3-4 times in the night to leave the dog out)

wonder how long i can milk hubby with this;):D:whistle::shhh:

Ok CTC (and Alfie & LIR and anyone else!), lets take minds away from feeling unwell or being depressed by the weather and tell me what you can about these items bought today.

    1/4 doilie in frame
    2/4 doilie in frame
    3/4 doilie in frame
    4/4 doilie in frame
Macrame, applique, embroidery, lace?? What do I call it and can you give any idea of date?

I'm only a bloke, but I would call those circular lace samplers. (I haven't Googled yet!) :)

Edit: OK, painted doilies then. Three of them could depict scenes around 1900-1920 I'd guess , but the other one (pouring tea) looks like a much earlier time.

I'm no good at this!!! :o:o

(But my squash are enormous thanks to all this rain!:D)
