We have snow forecast for tonight - too mild I think......I hope not as we'll be rioting in the streets & demanding a reduction in our council tax. It's not cricket.

Today, it seems we were among the losers on the weather front. The battering wind has been going straight through the polytunnel and making it hard to think straight. Luckily, our plum blossom is maybe a bit behind, so not fully out yet, otherwise it would have vanished. :(

But I've seen my first swallow; just the one, but unmistakable. :)

Just checked the weather forecast for the week and it looks as if it is going to be pretty much solid rain :(

I have so much to do in the garden but the soil will be far too wet to work with. Guess I am just going to have to get things planted up in the greenhouse and start thinking about planting plans for the beds.

How does a mouse take bait from an old fashioned trap (twice) and not set off the trap? This is what I am puzzling this morning.
Trap springs perfectly when I try it and the bait was pressed down hard on the wire.

I think the mice must have been having lessons from the moles, none being caught after the first one, yet all traps being sprung each night, by dirt being pushed into them.
I normally don't like to gloat over the death of an animal. But hah! Take that mouse :D

Another beautiful day here, just one more week is all my plums need, but Sunday night is looking a bit dodgy.

Oodles of rain as expected here, however I am going to get some salad leaves sown in pots as I am fed up of having to pay a small fortune for food every week. We have already stopped eating meat but I was horrified to see the cost of UK veg shooting up in our local shops.

I want to make sure that my plants are ready and strong enough to grow on when the weather improves.

I must admit I haven't really noticed veg going up in price, but we're still eating beans from the freezer and what's left of the PSB has started, so that's been a couple of very welcome meals.
Last of the leeks just gone and eaten in a potato and leek soup, the plot's virtually bare and ready to go now. First mangetout sowed yesterday, parsnips in today.
Quite a bit sown in modules and the toms are in pots in the greenhouse, although if a cold night comes along, they'll come back inside.

That's because we are on the same level. Gutter :D

Hammered with rain all night - things are awash & very spongy & slidey but the sun is out & the wind is much quieter. Off to get a holiday house ready for visitors - it pays well & I sneak a bath! That's the first this season.........
Will start ebay listing this evening - took photos yesterday.
Some of my daffs look beaten into the mud with the deluge & a big clump are half hidden by a broom that's gone all over sized. Must dig them up when finished & move them - or prune the broom............
