Excellent news.
You're bound to feel a rush of mixed emotions - a home is a major thing & after 30 years you will have loads of memories wrapped up in it, but, as you say - a country place will be brilliant.
Best of luck.0 -
Wooooohooooo that is fabulous news!!!!Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0

That's great news, Tibbie's Mum! I'm so excited for you, even though I've not had time to swot up on which property you might fancy.
We were 21 years at our last place, but leaving it didn't hurt too much. Once a house has served its purpose, it somehow feels right to hand it on to others. who will be full of appreciation for what it can offer.
Leaving is one thing, but I'm finding it difficult returning to the area I left as a twenty-year-old. On a rational level, I can accept that things have moved on, but there's a bit of me that feels like its stepped into a parallel universe......I can't put it into words, but it's disturbing, whereas visiting my old university campus isn't. Hopefully, I'll get over it in time.:o
Good to hear your plans are moving forward too, stitching witch. We're a bunch of busy people, just now. If everyone was like us, the British economy would be out of the doldrums in ten minutes flat!0 -
Just back from a mammoth house viewing round North Devon. And have decided, that although the original property that we viewed with the 2 acres might have some road noise, it's definately the one for us. So we will make an offer on Monday! So watch this space.
Mambury - be warned, I might be getting close to your gaff!!!!!
Davesnave/Mambury - I think, maybe, a North/Mid Devon 'meet' might be on the cards soon, or do you think I'm just mad????0 -
Delighted to hear your news Tibbie's mum...hope that it all works out and doesn't take an age.
No money for my fund this month I think....our **oody car was stolen last night, it has been found but can't get it back until forensics have finished with it, so won't know until Monday or Tuesday what, if any, damage needs to be dealt with...and I can't avail of my entitlement to courtesy car until Monday...am not happy I can tell you, terrified of what it is going to cost me to either get my own back on the road or find something else...its seven years old so not worth a lot in present second hand car climate I think...but its only a car and money after all, I get so mad that these thugs get away with so much though.
Night all,

Oh Meanmarie that is terrible about your car! Hope you get it sorted soon,Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0

Mean Marie........... Bummer about the car.
Tibbies Mum .... how exciting for you! A Meet might be a good idea! If you are ending up close to me then we need more kids at the local school, we are currently an entire school of 22 kids one of the smallest in Devon!
A meet might be a good idea......
Well its raining here AGAIN!
hope everyone else is doing well....

Meanmarie, hope the car is OK. I know what you mean about it being 7 years old, but people invest a lot in their cars with repairs etc which isn't reflected in the price. I swore I'd never buy a pristine vehicle again, but couldn't resist a one-owner bargain three years ago, since when people have been bashing into us on an annual basis! Still, it is like all the others we've owned now.....
Tibbie's Mum, you're not mad, but maybe a bit early. We are still on a routine of filling our 3.5 ton van on one day and then taking it down the M5 the next. So far, we have shifted 5 loads and there's about 2 more of nursery equipment , plus the rubbish we have that we'd be too embarrassed to give to the removal men. Then there's the plants.....about another 4 loads I reckon. The Boss thinks 5, but she doesn't know how much I'm going to 'reduce' their size! We can only move the plants when we have someone livng down there permanently to water them in this 'heat wave' summer! :rotfl:
Wasn't raining much in Chulmleigh yesterday!:p
So, yes, a meet-up seems a great idea later in the season, perhaps at a location central for you, Mambury & myself. At a rough guess, I'd say that would be somewhere like Rosemoor. We could take a few cuttings!:rotfl:0 -

Well, we're not in Chulmleigh, but close enough to get a Chinese from there with no need to re-heat. We're still going back & forth with stuff, having tackled the basics, like putting fresh locks on the outside doors, some of which either didn't have any, or were missing keys.
Yes, it's a lovely area, just far enough from where I grew up for my reputation not to precede me!;)0
