We are in the North, Barnstaple outskirts so on the boarder of the sticks and town, I have fields one side and houses the other :D

Have fun at MV, it is dangerous territory for us as I end up spending a fortune, we are going this evening to get wood chippings, hemp, ferret food and chicken pellet so its going to be another expensive trip for us

I have my gardening tools in the boot of my car for the past week, in the hopes that I can take some time off work while the weather is decent. So far, no joy. But DH was getting rather annoyed with me because of it because HE couldn't get things in or out of it at the weekend - he has his own car but was on a ranty weekend. I think we both could do with seperate trips up to the plot - just to get some perspective again!

I have some seeds started, and the lettuces and broad beans have started to come through. But I haven't any garlic or onions sown yet - I think I might try the Monty version from Friday night - lob them into modules to get them started at least and give me another few weeks breathing space.

I need to sort out the personal finances this week also - the credit card is gone a bit out of whack and I need to get things back on track. I also want to get a proper little fund started, which I can earmark for any little bits I get towards the DDF - like if I actually sew some things to sell at car boots or craft fairs.

I may burst with excitement :D

Just went to my local library and they have just bought in oodles of books about:

    • Gardening
    • Self sufficiency
    • Chicken keeping
    • Environmental Issues
    • Green living
    • Rationing
    • Make do and mend
I went to the counter with my arms full and I am now sitting with them spread out in front of me trying to decide which one to read first :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Rummer..... :rotfl::rotfl: glad you grabbed the books before someone else did, as i expect they are not going to be sitting on the libary shelves to long when they are brought back..

had the final planning application through from the council today, regarding the layout etc of the supermarket...found out its Asda going there...

hubby and I are even thinking about selling the business to get extra funds to try and move...

I have made my favourite comfort food for tea... lamb cawl... hopefully everyone else will eat the left over chinese we had last night, so i can eat most othe cawl:rotfl::D

I am dreading the budget next week...... hope they have the sense not to put any duty on fuel....

we're a bit  atm about more money too. DH gets paid well but we're managing to spend it quickly ATM too.

Re heating and environment: architect raised both biomass and methane today as things to look into for us. We produce lots of the same fuel that could be used for either. I'm not sure I fancy making poo bricketts all summer for biomass but in theory think its good to use what we have, especially as it could all then go back on the garden after wards.

Evening all, I'm home early from work today so thought I'd pop on and catch up before I end up having pages and pages to read again!

Hope you all got your tasks done today. Well done on the books Rummer! CTC hope you enjoy your dinner.

Was cold here last night but turned out lovely today. I can't get any time off atm as I have so much to do, think I'll do a long day tomorrow to try to catch up and maybe book a day off next week.

Just put the gas fire on because it's a bit nippy in here now. Must go let the cat in and make my tea/dinner.

    Speak again soon.

I think regardless of how much money your earn etc, you live to your means etc..

Its tuff for everyone.....things arnt cheap anymore... whether its food, fuel, house building/repair stuff...

I wonder how we compare to switzerland in the cost of living? as i am sure got told years ago switzerland was the most expensive place to live....bet you Britain beats it hands down now, or not far off anyway..

The cost of basic living just horrifies me, I dread what is coming in the budget.

    Good for you CTC!

I lost my post as internet is playing up! LIR I was asking if your Archy bloke mentioned Anaerobic Digestion for the methane use? I thought about making my own AD but knowing my luck I'd probably blow up my house!

Anyway, as I'm sure you can guess.............

There are videos uploaded on YouTube about ADs! lol

Now I am about to eat a bowl of sprouts on a bed of cheese with potatoes on top topped with cheese and garnished with garlic granuals and black pepper.

It's a good job I live alone, I guess you and I will have the same problems later CTC. LOL

I hope the duty on fuel doesn't go up either. I sigh with relief each month when the BoE keeps the interest rate at 0.5%. I think, phew there's another 2 months grace before the mortgage goes up (hoping that the BS doesn't react immediately so I get 2 months payments in before their notification period is up). As well, it's 2 months of payments off my debts bringing the minimum payments down so that if I need to I can just pay the minimums instead of overpaying. I now see my overpayments as emergency spare cash to be diverted to mortgage payments if needs be!

    It's a plan anyway!
