Hi all, thought I'd drop by just before I head off to bed.

Thanks for sharing your experience LIR, I am much better now than I was. I used to miss family functions even small ones with just bros, sis and mom. At least I go to them now! I tend to stick to what I call my safe places, family, work, supermarket, shop and mechanic. Thing is, when I'm with people at these places I am fine but if I have to goanywhere outside of these "safe zones" I get the shakes and all nervous and I feel totally socially inept. If I have to go somewhere different and I really can't get out of it, I grin and bear it but it tears me up inside.

I do feel really stupid about it though because nothing ever happens to reinforce my fears. What am I like?!

Alfie, congrats on winning your cart/trap/carriage/horsey pully thingy thing, hope you have much fun with it!

Rummer, I've never done Pilates or Yoga and I'm not in a position to be able to afford to start such classes.

Every now and then I have sudden impulse to "go out there" and I think that's what's happened with this community group thing.

Oh well, must get off to bed, good night all.

As well as the fear it becomes habit...at those are hard to break too. :( TBH, since I changed I still often ''hate'' being out...from a girl who used to party all night with any one and everyone. :D But its not all consuming any more, e.g. I loved going out on Saturday night. But I like to do what DH calls my ''reccy'' where I get in, establish the best route to the loo and the exit and I very much prefer to sit with my back to the wall. These are all usually dealable with. Things like tai chi are my ideal forms of socialisation: you don't have to talk to anyone much ;) and the focus is on both losing AND finding yourself cam through the movement and breathing.

    ANYWAY...:)

Architect coming this morning and some others...smells like our neighbours have been spreading this morning....but I'll check our septic system in a sec just in case . And we get the preplanning feedback today too ...fingers crossed for a clear positive indication! Have run around the house trying to tidy up a bit. A couple more chicks have hatched and they need cleaning out too. and the sun isout AGAIN.

I left all the laundry because we were meant to have rain, so I hae a laundry mountain to scale...but really want to get out in the garden to do more than hang washing.

    Frost last night.....

I use a great DVD which is divided into 10 min sections and it works wonders at toning me up and calming me down. When I do have spare pennies I spend them on classes as they are worth it for me :D

-6 here again. At least we haven't got the snow that I saw being predicted for poor old Scotland again last night.

I overheard a couple of old boys in the doctors the other day. "Have you got your tomatoes going yet Bill?", "Naw, too early yet" :D

Frost here too, but what a glorious day yesterday was.... shirtsleeves till almost 5pm. :)

Hello to the newbies. I am the Devon correspondent, sadly not corresponding much at the moment, but 'tis all action here and I do get very tired.

I think I have enough ammunition to begin a 2011 photo diary, so I'll work on that over the next few days. It will still be the same old location though!

On the subject of Pilates, DW does that in the Village Hall, and it doesn't cost much.....well, that's what she tells me! Anyway, it's an investment, if it keeps her lively...;) (lowers head below parapet!)

I think you would be suprised how many people are exactly like you. But not many of them manage to do as much as you! So I hope that makes you feel better. :)

Alfie, there was a single person trap on Antiques roadshow last night, anyone else see it?

Freezing and pouring with rain here today. Think I am just going to have to go out and get soaked as my bushes really do need to be planted. I don't want to get wet.

Ah, there's my unique selling point gone in a puff of smoke!
(By the way, we are in the middle: Chulmleigh/Winkleigh area - in other words, The Sticks!)

Unloading some stuff from the van, then off to Mole Valley Farmers for wood to finish off phase 1 of our nursery selling area. Just ordered the windbreak plasic for it too. :)

    Then...who knows? More holes I expect. :(
