Well I did something today that I have never done before and I have no idea why I did it! I went to a meeting
where some other residents want to set up an area Community Group.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -
Welcome WWP what a gorgeous garden, I am looking forward to seeing how you progress over the year (lots of pics please). I work out of my garden and many of us do on this thread. Please ask lots of questions as I seem to be the only one that does
CTC That is fantastic news, every penny counts and a good sales day take you even closer to your dream!
Poo I think you have done a fabulous thing by taking your self to the meeting especially when it is not your thing. Hopefully you being there will give fresh ideas as there are bound to be a lot of people like yourself and their views need to be shared (even on a note).
No garden time for me but I did get my shallots planted Monty style and will probably get some seeds planted tonightTaking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -

I'm after something like a little norfolk cart....for my dog:o
That;s it folks....we finished burning through ALL of the old coach house wood. We were almost weeping at the end. ''Just'' the rubble pile to go through now. we reckon its two skips worth but that some will be salvageable brick. Heartbreaking the roof tiles poor ly stacked by previous owner that have been damaged just sitting waiting.0 -
Great news Alfie! What an exciting thing to purchase!
Lostinrates not sure what to say, is there a story about the coach house that I missed?Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -

Not sure if I said.....the coach house fell done a few years ago...we're within a time limit to rebuild it without planning if we can afford to. The listed building officer said he'd only permit it (it is listed too) if we reussed the materials left from the original....well..the wood is as wormy as possible...the ancient beams were spongey and almost like chipboard. The tiles had been stacked (badly), the rubble heaped mainly at one end, and they wanted us to rebuil it from the crumbling bricks out of the pile, and the wormy wood. we want to rebuild it but from new, strong wood...so we'll see what the future brings. I have to walk past it sveral times a day and the mess is just daunting. Thought the rubble will be hard at least everything else is now sorted a bit.
and the wood worm destroyed!

Hi WWP and welcome aboard. I just have a garden too but as the thread title says, for me anyway, a smallholding
is just a daydream. I can't cope with my garden never mind anything bigger! lol
Well I did something today that I have never done before and I have no idea why I did it! I went to a meeting
where some other residents want to set up an area Community Group. There is so much going on in my area but
I have no idea what's happening when! But it seems that whatever is happening is either not applicable to me i.e.
Mother/Toddler groups, coffee mornings (weekdays - I'm at work), or stuff that I'm not interested in like Tai Chi (sp?)
or WeighWatchers I can't afford to pay someone else to watch my weight and tell me what to eat! I don't know what I
was expecting and I'm not sure what I have to offer. As I said, no idea why I went! I choose not to mix with people now.
I could quite easily be agorophobic (and I mean just outside never mind open spaces), but the mortgage has to be paid so
I go to work.
Good for you. when I was first recovering from being ill I really do think I had an agrophobic phase. not outside or open spaces so much, but people and busy places, I felt uneasy in this body and uncomfortable and embarrassed. TBH, I still don;t go out MUCH, but I feel more choice in this now. BUT I would say...don't rule out the tai chi! Its an excellent calming device, in many ways like yoga...the crossover of mind/body exercise. In fact...a bit like gardening too! Its rhythmic and calming when taught well. I really like tai chi. I think we have some pilates in the village and I keep meaning to find out...but then another week passes...:o:o0 -
iv removed the "memo's" i left as dont want to mislead.0

I love pilates and yoga and find them very relaxing as well as a great work out. Just being outside makes me feel so much calmer too.Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0
