Still, thats nowt compared to whats happening in ME and NZ, had text from DS1 this am who's in Wellington waiting to operate on casualties evacuated on flights from Christchurch.

We are waiting for news from family in Christchurch....:(

Meanwhile, closer to home, it is a while since choille posted, so lets hope the improvement in the weather (I know, I'm only seeing it from here!) is keeping her busy.

I agree about the oil, but it's a minor problem for us, and major upheavals elsewhere that may cause those hiccups in the supply.

Sorry to hear you're feeling poorly. Hopefully the better weather will help. A lot of us have flat batteries at this time, but a change in the clocks is only a month or so away. I hear they're talking about double Summer Time too, before the Olympics. That won't please our friends up north, I fear, if it comes about.

Yes, they are, thanks. No water, no drains, no power, but they're all OK, and so's the integrity of the house.

Now, if we could just get through to choille as quickly....

    I know, I'm worried about her. :(

checked under the broody for eggs to eat this morning and she's RUBBED OFF ALL THE CROSSES that I marked her eggs with at the weekend. :( I'll have to try candling with the torch later....but what a wretch! Her clutch is all blue eggs, and the new eggs there are blue too...so not a hope of telling. strawberry is taking her ''egg coloured'' eggs into the hay everyday, sometimes there are two, so she must take a chum some days and I think the others are finally having a bit of a break...or laying them around the place where I haven't found.
  • ok i am now logging at work:rotfl:

I know this might be against forum rules, but as we are a nice little group now and we know we are notstalkers or ax murders etc.. just a though, but maybe in times like this that we are worried about our choille. maybe we should have some other form of contact, or maybe a side shot private forum etc

Alfie - where are you going to put all those birds? I work with an animal rescue and I have to take my OH with me in matters relating to it so he can keep my feet on the ground or we would have a small zoo ;).

CTC - exciting and tense days! I know nothing about that sort of thing but I have everything crossed that you get what you want. I think the alternative coms would be a good idea for those that are comfortable with it.

Rhiwfield - Sorry to hear you are under the weather, I am just slowly recovering after quite a long illness and I can empathise, hope you are feeling better soon.

Dave - If I had to wait 2 years I think I would forget about them and tip them out :rotfl::rotfl:

Lostrinates - I do believe your chicken is laughing at you :D I have visions of her scrubbing off the crosses when you are sleeping :rotfl:

As for me I am finally and slowly starting to feel better again, the frantic seed sowing has stopped as I have run out of space and I am now daily willing the seedlings to hurry up so I can get the next lot planted.

Hopefully Choille will be back on soon, maybe there has been a problem with her internet connection?

One of the hardest things I have to do is turn away animals. DH would have every animal we come across....in need of help pr otherwise moving in. but money isn't limitless and they all need feeding/worming/vets and also...he's not here doing all the work mon to friday. I swear they hold it in until monday sometimes because they all love him so much.

I think she's laughing at me too. ;) but I don't blame her. she really wants babies. Its nice to let them hatch their own when you can...when they want to. Even if you only leave two eggs under, it makes the hen happy.
