Last time I had an avatar like this I had all kinds of strange pm's from strangers. I'll get bored of it in a while.
I can never find the right avatar to describe me. Of course many on here and in real life would say that this one suits me perfectly, as I am a big ar*eFreedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -

checked under the broody for eggs to eat this morning and she's RUBBED OFF ALL THE CROSSES that I marked her eggs with at the weekend.I'll have to try candling with the torch later....but what a wretch! Her clutch is all blue eggs, and the new eggs there are blue too...so not a hope of telling. strawberry is taking her ''egg coloured'' eggs into the hay everyday, sometimes there are two, so she must take a chum some days and I think the others are finally having a bit of a break...or laying them around the place where I haven't found.
it has been chucking the rain down today so apart from putting fuel in the van iv not been anywhere, if it abates i will venture into the wood on a yew hunt....0 -

Trouble is that junk accumulates, and accumulates. It can be such a relief to finally admit that the cans of 20 yo paint wont ever be used, alongside of the wormy piles of wood, rusty trikes and mouldy cot mattresses.
When we had our loft insulation topped up a few years back we had to move 20+ years of junk. Now the loft is empty and most of the stuff in the garage has gone as well, leaving room for storage of fruit, veg and seasoned wood (as well as the car!)
Only very rarely do I regret decluttering!0 -

I have actually been on a bit of a tidy up recently and consigned some kinds of things that you describe to the tip, also sorted out some others, so that they are in the right places with other things like them.
However, 6 months on and I seem to be virtually back where I started. More effort is needed and less MSE I suspect!
I've been looking for my propagator today, which I can't find, but in looking for it I discovered the Tung oil which I've needed for ages to finish off a bit of wood I've been working on. So it's not all bad.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -
Lotus-eater, you are a bit 'cheeky':p
Alfie, my mum is like that, saying if you cant afford a skip i can pay for one for you:eek: I love most of my junk ...but yet if she wants to get rid of anything she allways asks if i want it...lol....Work to live= not live to work0 -
Must say a 60' barn has been a godsend when it comes to junk, but with a business there's always a lot of equipment. For example, we have an entire stable given over to pots, crates and trays. At present I'm also storing a commercial polytunnel and a huge job lot of debris netting given to us by cheerful builders who were renovating a station....:)
When people visit, they say, 'Did you bring all of this here or was it left behind?' When we say it's ours they ask, 'Where on earth did you keep it all before?' I'm not entirely sure , but the under-bench space in the old greenhouse was well packed, as was the shed.
I think we'll probably ditch much furniture, ornaments etc when we renovate the house, but they'll go to auction, not the tip. We hung on to a lot of inherited stuff, imagining we'd end up in 'Ye Olde Cottage,' surrounded by old chests, dressers and assorted almost-antiques.
Got that bit very wrong!:rotfl:
