I AM SO EXCITED !!:j
I popped into the pre view day of our local auction yesterday and saw a pile of pictures in the corner, i only briefly looked but saw a nice horse picture so i put a £50 bid on [thinking can car boot other pics to get my money back] today i got a call to say id got them ...total £29...
so off i trotted to pick them up . 17 pics in total !
BUT the horse pic is an original chalk? rosemary welch picture :T. its stunning ! 2 greys ,head and shoulders, with same of a man behind ones shoulder. she captures horses so brilliantly . i first saw her work 35 years ago at an exhibition at appelby fair. she sold out and they arent cheap. her pics start at £500 to £6,000+.... never dreamt id own one !!:)
if i can get a pic of it i will post it on here.
PLUS about 5 more original watercolours and one oil in the bunch ... the rest are a mix bunch.

i have/had a trade acc with a BIG nursery that sells/sold from exotic to humble. i have been told on the grapevine theyve gone to liquidation so may be able to get some "backdoor" things before they shut shop. im amazed as they supplied the whole of england superstores and nurseries??? absolute bargains at trade price anyway so will be sad to see them go if its true...i will do a drive past tomorrow !!
I hope that's not the REALLY BIG one............
When we found the plant we subsequently went on to patent, my DW contacted a couple of really large nursery companies and, within 24 hours, the MD of one was in our garden. We decided that despite having a touch of the Richard Nixons about him, we'd give his outfit the plant to trial by supplying 50 specimens for an evaluation, which lasted two years. At the end of it, we visited the nursery, had lunch with the MD and he proposed that they do tissue culture and then roll it out via Homebase/B&Q etc. To hell with patenting, we'd just go for broke over a couple of years.
We were all smiles!
The following winter, we suddenly had a message from Mr MD himself to say that the company had debts of £9m and the receivers would likely be seizing everything very soon....so we tore up to the Midlands in the snow and rescued our stock, literally hours before everything was put under lock & key. We still have plant trays and other items we were given then as 'compensation' for the hassle. It wasn't much compensation!
The plant was subsequently trialled at another very reputable nursery, accepted, patented and then quietly parked in favour of other varieties, but I think I've covered that before. As a hybrid, much of its vigour was gone by that time. There's still a dozen or so Google entries, some of which identify DW, so I can't post a link.0 -

Well, that pump I bought last weekend has been on (draining on the to be veg patch) for most of the week draining the water from our muck heap. Only today can I see any difference at all, so after an iffy start this morning, I'm going to don some wellies soon and see what's happening back there.
edit: what's happening back there is great! All of a sudden its making progress. while I was out there I also saw that there were enough dandelions for a salad tonight already! When did that happen?0
