Way its raining we're more likely to see flooding than fire
Awful, wet, murky weather!
Just been advised that our Mastervolt inverters on one pv array are being recalled for safety reasons, in the meantime had to isolate both DC and AC connections, or risk the garage being added to choille's sun-day
Seems like the Vick isnt working so its now plan d, ordered anti peck rings from the Domestic Fowl Trust. The blue seems to have stopped (too busy chomping on the suspended apples and greens!) but the blacktail has developed a taste for menthol maran feathers. Both the blue and the Maran are off-lay but the blacktail still lays one a day, no doubt helped by the added protein
Just about sorted the planting plan for 2011, cant wait to get going! Had the minor satisfaction of putting the seed potatoes in trays for chitting (I know, small things amuse small minds)

Hi - It's rained all last night & all today. Most of the ice has gone although there are still lethal patches dotted about & the roads are patchy in places. Now they are putting gravel on them! They've saved a fortune this year. I put more salt on my chips than they have on the roads. People are talking about complaining - that's how bad it is.
All the hens are crambing into two hen houses apart from one wee black Orpington youngster who is on its tod in a house. I have to push two huge fluffy bottoms into the house to get the pop hole door down. It's like twenty people crambing into a phone box - on shoulders, faces pressed against the glass sort of scenario. Maybe they feel warmer that way. The 'nice bungalow. Stream side location house with window facing the rising sun' is vacant. Don't know why they don't like that one. Caligula sleeps in Mrs Hopperty's nest box.
I Pinemarten-proofed the peanut feeder the other day. It was lying down on the ground this morning but it hadn't got the nuts out - so that is a victory of sorts - although I would rather it was fed, just sick of it mangling bird feeders.
Choille I am told is wood or copse in Gaelic. It's pronounced Hoilley - so I'm lead to believe.
I hope things dry out - there's water running everywhere. The burn is a roaring torrent & the little bridge looks vulnerable. There is so much melting stuff pouring down from up above it is starting to pond everywhere. I'm sure there will be flooding over on the East.
It's been a really deep frost. Funny how mega mole hills appear everywhere when it thaws a bit.
We haven't had burst pipes this Winter but builder we know is rushed off his feet with collapsed ceilings etc in holiday homes.
I do so little i am getting fat & idle & have aches & pains-0 -

Don't know about 3 degrees here lir; it's been almost tropical here and still feels over 10C now. Apparently, it may stop raining by Saturday, so we may fit a bonfire in,:) though gale force winds are likely.
Exeter was quiet. We bumped into someone from the village in Boots, then bumped into her again four more times, though the last time she didn't see us. (We nipped behind wall, in case she thought she was being stalked!) That's quiet.
Our village hall is out of action. There are some structural issues that must be addressed, but how much it'll cost & how long it will take is, as yet, unknown. It's a well-used venue and we're already missing it.0 -
