let's make something of this celebration?

How about making wishes for the next year on slips of paper and committing them to the Sun fires?

A bit naff I know but...

My first thought too, but I'd settle for oodles less weeds. :)

Finished my garlic bed today. Better late than never. I have put about 9 barrow loads of pig muck in there and 6 of bonfire ash, but it is a reasonably large area, so will probably take more than garlic to fill. Do have a lot of garlic though!:D

Thinking about it, I have probably just introduced another few hundred thousand weed seeds in that manure! :o

Pig muck and garlic? My suggestion is you fill the rest with something very nicely scented!

Its drizzle, drizzle, drizzle. The weather is wrong rain yes, but its so mild now, I don't believe it went below 5celcius last night :( Dank. Dirty weather. Only bonus is there must be some grass growth out there, even if I can't see it.

Our poop-tank arrived yesterday...hurrah! The only thing is I'm sure we've been silly going for the smaller one. The drainage guy assured me its better to go small and be empties more often, as too large and it doesn't decompose as well....you need a certain volume to ''progress the media'' or some such phrase. Well: I'm married to a lawyer and some would say that there is one thing they produce well.....

Also I don't get the thng about the volume...I mean...how does it know? The surface area isn't mush different. Its one of those mysteries like how some people/animals are ''good doers'' while others aren't I suppose! I'm told that if in the future it turns out to seriously not be big enough we simply sink a second tank and deal with it that way but if its only''on the small side'' we get it emptied more often. Before winter I think...so we ever have to worry about filling over the time where a tanker can''t get on the roads!

Garlic doesn't smell/look any different from onions when it's growing. The pig muck was a gift and will be better under the surface than sitting where it's been, come summer. :D

It's true that poo systems are somewhat flexible, so if one proves too small, it can become the 'trash tank' and feed a second, which will not need emptying so often.

I think a lot of people's experience with septic tanks & drains is down to lifestyle, so it's a bit hard to plan for variations in that, but wasteful to overspecify.

We have an unused small Klargester plumbed to the barn. I have always seen that as a potential trash tank to a larger tank in the field, if it proves inadequate.

Nice fine rain here too, and I have a leak in a pipe near one of the troughs, but blow that, I'm off to Exeter, taking back my Christmas gifts! (Do this every year!)

This is a celebration? Not sure about cooking our fellow poster?

Although I think choille is gaelic for shrub?? If so my pruning will be appropriate.

    Only teasing.
