choille.....I do so little i am getting fat & idle & have aches & pains-

im sure you do plenty the rest of the year ! sounds like what you do now [walking miles to shop, lugging wood, feeding stock etc] would put the average woman to shame !! so dont feel guilty, get yourself some chocolate and let it release the "happy" endorphine......
  • Hi All:j

choille we had a chicken called fluffybum she was lovely.... this is going back a few years now, sadly a fox had her:o

We have been watching Hugh FW on channel 4 called hugh's fish fight..

a bit of an eye opener with all the throwbacks ( once the fishing boat has done its quota with a certain breed of fish they have to throw it back,,, dead)

tonight he was on the tuna case.... now that was an eye opener too:eek:

My book came today from Amazon, so will start reading that later... I love having a little read before i go to sleep...

Its been absolutely hammering down last night and today... think there is going to be floods in some areas

Just about sorted the planting plan for 2011, cant wait to get going! Had the minor satisfaction of putting the seed potatoes in trays for chitting (I know, small things amuse small minds :p )
I need to get to town to buy some, trouble is I'm the same as many of you, we try not to do any unnecessary journeys, so we might not get in there for weeks and I'm not paying postage for one packet of seed potatoes.

I still need to get my garlic in as well (which means I need to get compost) and need to sow chillies urgently (more compost).

    This saving money, costs alot!

Right. I can't stand this weather, its depressing me. I'm off to the garden centre. If I can't plant veg I might as well have a look at something pretty.

On the plus side I did notice that the daphnes we were gifted are in bud. :) And I might be being gifted an unhappy Mme Gregoire Stachelin rose ....whoohooo...something to go on a north facing wall! Also need to think about something self supporting to climb up a building. Preferably scented. Would love a white jasmine there but I just don't think its light enough (east facing a little mid afternoon sun too but not too much.) Would love something that flowers early in the year!

eta: I have returned with a half price Falstaff rose and somepaint for my kitchen cabinets. I will paint myself jolly.:)

    Lovely photo Alfie.

Well back from Ullapool & we have 2 cracks in the windscreen.

Huge thaw still on & torrential rain gushing down mountains. First a lot of people have been out since Christmas so Ullapool was busy but we just avoided the Super & did what we set out to get done & home again. Much milder now - temp must of rocketed up. We have severe gales forecast now.....great this weather stuff eh?
