However it is a a house of doors, and there are six ways to get outside, and that's not counting the garage! That is one reason why we need to change it.

Where as I have two doors, oh three, but the third is impractical, and no way from the kitchen direct to outside. That will be changing!

maybe i should try and find those stilt things but they are like springs, flip dont know what they are called....

I am now fed up doing my crotchet blanket:rotfl: now i know why i left it soooooooooooooo long, I tried doing a big blanket, so today i bought new wool, lovely purple and earthy browns and karki green, and i am going to do small squares... as i think i will be quicker, plus the shabbychic baby pink and blues etc are on their way out, and earthy country prim is on the way in:D

and at this sort of price

I think i am going to be crotcheting all over christmas to get this on into my antique stall....lol...

on leaving the new village PO today, I noticed there was a 'To Let' sign on their fence. They have been open about 5 weeks, and the PO bit only a week, so I wonder what the heck is going on. confused-smiley-013.gif

This is the thing. We have new owners at our 'local' PO & the hours have been drastically cut to just two hours a day. I walked there last week through pretty deep snow to be told that the PO was shut & to mind the new opening hours.
I could of cried as OH relies on the post for his work.

I think people take it on to get the house, the country thing & then the reality of living rural & the PO low income kicks in.
Six doors to the outside is a lot - maybe there was more than one set of people living there? Or where they claustrophobic?

CTC - is the crocheted blankets trendy?

I love the toast catalogue. I love it. Been reading my sisters for years. Never bought anything from it...unlike my sister...which explains how she has more nice stuff than I have but I have a house to keep nice stuff in :o.

I adore the flannel sheets in toast this season. Really cosy-country chic (I have a ''thing'' for ticking anyway). I really want flannel sheets for winter comfort but get put off by the idea of drab many times washed monocolour or nasty print ones. Those I'd buy. If they were cheaper or I weren't so tight!

Totally agree with you about colours too. :D

well yet again a hectic day ! how i long for a "non-happening" day !..... in fact a plain boring day would do....
i have had to get the vet out to 2 of the shetlands. had to wait a few hours for him, so spent my day keeping an eye on them... was worried about acorn poisoning or laminitus. either way they were VERY lethargic, kept laying down, didnt want any food etc....
what worried me was that TWO were poorly... i shut them all in the paddock so i could keep an eye on the others. vet turned up and said he was surprised but it seemed like they both had laminitus.... mild thank god but very strange this time of year but as the vet said, nothing surprises him...
they have had bute for tonight, tomorrow they will go in a stable, deep litter and keep treating them... funnily enough the foal was so worried that flora was lying down he kept nipping her and when that didnt get her up, he laid down next to her ?? [not his mum!]
so its been a long day !!
good news is i "won" a bid on e-bay for a hat ! i collect vintage/antique hats. the seller promoted the fact it was made by a milliner to the queen. BUT i did some pre research from the box label [to whom the hat was sold] and turns out it was owned by diane barnato walker, a famous pilot who flew spitfires and holds the record as the 1st female to break the sound barrier !!!! duuurrrr.... great tho cos i didnt pay all that much really.... intend to get as much info as poss when it arrives to keep with it. i also put a bid on another as i thought others would "twig" the history of hat no1 and it would be too expensive ...and guess what i won both...:o:) so now got to cough up for TWO... bums..
  • yes 'Dingle Chic':D is in..... ( i love the dingles's place on emmerdale)

I used to work at Toast, as an order packer a few years back, I am not going to tell you the mark up they do:eek:

Even though they are expensive, i do take inspiration from their stuff, plus i must admit they were a very good company to work for...

even had a computer in the canteen - lounge area for the staff to use...

i think i would contact the main post office to see if they can do this??? be interesting to see wether its to the new owners convenience or the post offices??? you would think that to be part of the rural set they would just be there and serve you whatever... i had a shop that i would often be in ,in the evening pricing stock etc [in a little village] and people would go for a stroll from local hotel after dinner, look in the windows and id just open up for them. make a cuppa, have a chat and quite often sell em something but no pressure...

oh yes ...they are THE thing at the moment, the older the better, the bigger the better. average costs £30+ up to £100 for real vintage...depends on patterns and colours.
if anyone has any really old ladies hats... im interested, wackier the better. flowers, feathers etc.
i know im sad but iv told my son when its "my time" pick the most flamboyant, stick it on my head and send me off !
