Choille, prepared as if it is going to be and then if it isn't you'll still be ok.

Its pretty here, a dusting....enough to look festive, not enough to close roads. Just as well, we need to go out for animal food.

I seem to have damaged my right hand. Think it might be an infection...its very hot and swollen fro the base of index finger right up to the wrist. Sometimes my nerves do similar things, but I don't think I normally get heat in them. So, I'm going to go and find a chemist for some advise, once dh has changed a fuse in the LR....the lights were out last night and DH is convinced its just a fuse I hope so!

Lir, that finger may well be infected given its hot, prob best to nip it in the bud now and see the doctor.

Was due to take DS2 to work last night but cancelled due to weather, rain turning to ice then heavy snow that stuck. Local headline of 26 mile tailback on M4 at rush hour last night . Managed to get out this morning and left car at bottom of hill.

Choille, feel for you in the caravan, but at least this time next year you'll be snug in your new house generating your own leccy from the burn and warming your toes by the logburner.

That talk of alpacas reminds me of a program (last year?) where Monty Don was helping smallholders and a woman had several of them (or were they llamas?). Think she called the holding fairy dell but was paying someone to look after them while she swanned around building without planning. Surprised Monty didnt lose his cool. Or did I imagine it all? :D

Hi LIR - we are off to see what the roads are like. Yesterday DH was due at the garage with the car but he tried twice & couldn't get out.

We have hay shortage & are going to scroungs a bale off someone but we'll need to take the wheel barrow.

Your finger sounds infected or arthritis? Possibly?

We had Orpington curry last night & there's enough left for tonight's tea.
The new hens don't know snow as they look at it & didn't want to come out of their houses yesterday.

Off on a misson for hay & the paper - if they've got here.

Good morning, loads of snow here and as we don't have any heating we are frozen! It was lovely looking out last night and seeing our rabbits bouncing around in the snow fall, they were very excited! I don't get them they have a huge hutch filled with warm snuggly hay but they choose to spend so much of their time out in the freezing cold?

I went out to feed the beasts last night dressed in almost everything that I own, my OH tried to take a photo, mercifully he didn't manage, I would never live it down! Hopefully I will receive all the warm winter clothing I ordered the other day.

well im feeling left out ....no snow here [not sure if good or bad!] ive been tidying up my flower beds and pots etc, keep nipping in for a cuppa [convinced it warms parts of me that are frozen!!] BUT am i the only one who still has chrysanths, roses and pansies etc still flowering??
iv let the chooks, goose and ducks into the garden to have a good scrub around only to spot the latter on my pond ! [duuurrr!] oh well.
im off to chop wood and get coal in, then off to get MABEL food from the market later.
THEN i am infront of the fire, yet another cup of yorkshire and NOT BUDGING FOR ANYONE... unless i win the lottery in which case you will spot me running around outside like a loony !
    p.s.
choille... could you get hold of a big canvass to drape over the part of your caravan that is getting damp to put an air pocket between the wall and the great outdoors? in fact could you stack some straw bales around the bottom to insulate a bit ?

LIR - good you got anti-biotics in you.

Well blizzards now. Had an active day outdoors trying to get stuff organised. Very cold but healthy. Watched 18 deer coming down the hill - OH MUST get a license. We have been given quite a lot of hind & that's in the freezer - yipee.
Didn't expect this heavy snowfall yet - not organised, not that we ever are really.

Rummer - you must have some form of heating - surely? What about getting one of those halogen heaters - they're only about threepence out of supermarkets & not too dearish to run. We had one in the caravan before the stove. They're not great but better than nowt.
Fourth night of Orpington cockerel - stir fry this evening Jeeves?
Lay an extra place at the table Jeeves

Yes, we'll dine in the West Wing This evening.

I appreciate your view doesn't build the house or keep you warm but my goodness what it must do for your soul!
