I too have lost a lot of sleep since early January.

It's been 6 weeks since we accepted the offer and haven't got a date for the survey yet. Our buyers EA keeps saying it'll be done next week, but she's said this 3 times now and i'm losing my patience.

I can't concentrate at work and am making silly mistakes. I even had to call in sick last week through lack of sleep and am now taking sleeping tablets to help me cope a bit better. The last thing i need now is to lose my job.

My EA put a SSTC sign on our house the day after we accepted the offer and has now even taken our house off the rightmove website.

My Solicitor keeps calling and nagging for the £110 to do the searches, but after my last sale falling through and losing a packet i refuse to part with any money until my buyer shows some commitment to this sale.

Its only been 2 weeks since our offer was accepted on the house we want to buy, but i'm sure they'll soon get fed up with waiting because we were the first people to view their house on the very first day it went on the market and after a few misunderstandings they accepted our offer.

If this all falls through again i will scream!!!! Then i will go on holiday for 3 weeks and then i will sell my house myself. At least then i won't have to spend every day calling myself to see how things are progressing!

Good luck to everybody here. I hope your sale/purchase goes a lot smoother than mine.

Thankfully yes, and I have said that when the time comes to move again Im selling and moving into rented before I look to buy cos this tieing everyone into the same day is a bloody nightmare. Esp with the HA involved - 3 flippin solicitors  (Plus in this case a fourth solicitor working on my purchase)

Like you Im grateful for the chance that SO gave us but I would advise people of thinking about doing it to think Very carefully before signing the dotted line - read and understand the small print and dont be suprised if the goal posts get moved. Getting into a SO is a hell of a lot easier then getting out.

Well Ive just packed the last of my bits, theres no going back now - just pray the contracts are signed this week :)

    Good luck with yours

Thanks for the support, here is an update i've taken from another thread that i am posting on.

Well i bit the bullet and told them i want a surveyor in by next Friday or i am taking my house off the market altogether going on a long holiday and then selling the blummin thing myself. I told them that i will not be ringing, calling in or chasing them anymore about this and that as i am paying them over £1000 that they can sort it out from here on in. PHEW!!!

I actually feel like a great weight has been lifted from my shoulders. That was yesterday morning and when we returned from our mortgage appointment there were 4 messages on my phone. Why do you have to be so abrupt to get the sevice you are paying for?

Anyway, although they are now going at it hammer and tongs for us we have now found out that a full structural survey is being done on our buyers house on Monday! Full structural?! We were told it was just an electrical thing that had to be sorted before our buyers would fork out the money to have the survey on ours done.

Apparently the FTBers that are purchasing our buyers house have been told by there mortgage people they can't have the morgage unless that comes up clear. This will be the 3rd survey they have had done! They also changed mortgage providers half way through which also put things back!

I have been assured that our buyers are ready to go as soon as this is done, but i can't help being a bit miffed that this structural hingy has taken 8 weeks to come to light. My EA even took my house of the RM website last week and we haven't even had the surveyors round to our house yet!!

I too have had an awful time due to an incompetent solicitor who didn't do relevant paperwork work for my vendors 2 yrs ago [but charged them for it!] which meant that I was on the brink of having to move out in 10 days time with nowhere to live and nowhere to store my furniture [long story]!
However my vendors are humane and understanding and have granted licence for me to access the property if the paperwork isnt done in time due to his sloppy work.....so I can move in on the agreed completion date [which the solicitor knew about over 4 weeks ago!!] - but I've had 2 days of complete stress in the meantime.
Why are some solicitors so arrogant that when asked if all the paperwork is in order to proceed they blithely say it is - without checking!!!!! as I asked this question on the day my offer was accepted.
Good luck to all others having a tough time too......I hope it sorts out for you.

my partner are ftb and have completed and moved in last week

it has taken since last november to get this far i wouldn't mind if we were in a chain but the house was empty it was a combination of the vendor from hell, mortgage company who don't care and a solicitor who doesn't know his head from his a**e

anyway due to exchange on the 13th i was very stressed all weekend and really busy packing had 6 noseleeds!

monday get an email!!! from the solicitor in the afternoon saying unable to exchange today so can't move until following wednesday someone was moving into our flat we rented on the sunday so that was no good, subsquently burst into tears and had another nosebleed

lovely boss said finish early and go to the solicitors to sort this out but still couldn't concentrate for the rest of the afternoon and then had 2 more nosebleeds. then called my doctor who rang me back as i was concerned about the number of nose bleeds and couldn't get to the surgary

his words were "nose bleeds can be caused by highblood pressure do you feel as if you are under a lot of stress at the moment" i can definatly say that the answer was a lot longer then YES

best thing i can recommend anyone to do is make sure you have alot of supportive people around you even someone you can just call to have a good old rant it won't change things but it makes you fell a little better, try not to use the other half as usually they want to rant back and this gets you even more wound up (voice of experience there can you tell!!)
Well we finally did it got a house not on a main road, next a railway line or any other werid and wonderful things that get on my nerves!!!

I definitely think that moving house puts a lot of strain on relationships. I have been dealing with most of the admin/chasing etc.. relating to our move as my other half is a solicitor and is in court most of the day. Although he would like to help more it's rare that he can/make receive phone calls during office hours and I am lucky ( ) enough to have an office job and can deal with things from work. Although I try not to blame my partner for being less involved sometimes it's difficult - especially when I'm trying to explain how wound up I am from spending half the day on the phone to one party or another and all he is able to really appreciate is what I have achieved (often nothing!). Still, I am trying to remain calm and he is trying to be appreciative of all my work and all we can really do is try and look forward to the future!

Still here and on the verge on a break down, I AM NEVER DOING THIS AGAIN.

I have 8 weeks until the baby is due and cant hack anymore, I have just emailed my dh telling him I have have had enough, not sure why but as EVERYTHING has been left to me i have now reached past breaking point, this system sucks and if it were not for the fact that I NEED to move i would be pulling the house off the market.

    Really hacked off!

Anyone want to listen to the next chapter in my saga?

Remember the woman at the top of the chain who kept delaying and delaying because she was waiting for probate? She has now revealed that her late husband left debts all over the place. She is trying to agree pay offs with the creditors. The debts are not secured on the house (she was the sole owner) so she is saying to the creditors "I will give you X now, if you don't accept X then you can't force me to sell the house so you won't get any money." One of the creditors said no. Apparently her solicitor has gone back with another offer to that one. She says she can't exchange on the house or the creditors will see she is raising £1m+ and demand payment in full. Are creditors going to accept her living in an expensive house and not getting full payment?

At the other end of the chain, the FTBs have issued an ultimatum to my buyer, either he exchanges this week with completion in April or they are walking away. He has offered to pay my removal costs if I go into rented. I can't do this in case our purchase doesn't happen, leaving us unable to find a house we like. I really thought he would exchange with the FTBs rather than lose a buyer it has taken him 2 years to get, but he says he won't.
