I have also noticed how much Lidl's products have shot up in price. Their own brand tomato sauce used to be 50p,but has now gone up to 58p! Ok may not sound alot but it all counts. I also find i cannot do my weeks shop in there as they don't stock some of my usual products. I used to shop in Tesco's,but have noticed that they have got very expensive.Have now gone back to Sainsburys, which i initially moved away from a couple of years ago as i thought they were extortionate, but they have got more own branded or value stuff than Tesco have:D I have also found that their BOGOF deals are good value as well.
I would love to shop at Asda but unfortunetly my nearest one is 12 miles away:mad:0 -

Noticed that on a lot of items recently.
Lidl over the last 1 year-18months have gone from being as cheap as the bigger supermarket value type brands but with a quality on most items to match the leading brand. To being not much cheaper than the leading brands today.
Myself i have switched to getting more branded goods on offer at Netto, doing most at Sainburys (which seems to have got much cheaper in the same period) and only getting the odd items i love at lidl/their specials.Hi there! We’ve had to remove your signature. It was so good we removed it because we cannot think of one so good as you had and need to protect others from seeing such a great signature.0 -
Try looking in your local Pound Shop - I know there are various similarly named stores but Poundland has some good deals on named food products. You do have to be wary on some of their items (especially non food) as you think - ah...that's cheap at a £1 - then go in Wilko's or Savers and find it less than a £1!
But always worth a look imho.0 -
I shopped at Lidl last night and saved £4.90 across a dozen products of Asdas like for like.~~~~~~~~~~~~Halifax, taking the Xtra since 1853:rolleyes:~~~~~~~~~~~~0

Could the Lidl price hikes have something to do with the excvhange rate against the Euro? A lot of their produce is coming from the Eurozone, so there will have been a currency hike.0

has anybody noticed that the prices are different when it goes through the till, i bought a couple of items the other day, got home looked at receipt and half the items were dearer than advertised. Decided not to make a issue of it
incase i was looking at the wrong price. A couple of days later bought a smoothie advertised for 49p came through the till for 69p. Pulled the cashier
up this time and had to wait while she walked up and checked it. Is this just
my local lidl or has anybody else found this0 -

I found this too and their explanation was that the price had changed from the time I picked up the item to the time I got to the till. Told they this was unacceptable and that any prices increases should be made BEFORE the store opens.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J0 -

Lidl became expensive ever since the pound collapsed against the Euro
Aug 07 1 pound = 1.47 Euro
Oct 08 1 pound = 1.25 Euro
Mar 09 1 pound = 1.06 Euro
Goods from Europe like most of the items at Aldi and Lidl and things like tin tomatoes at all supermarkets are now more expensive to import. British goods - British meat, British veg - are cheaper. My local butcher is now cheaper per KG than the supermarkets and better quality. Veg box schemes have narrowed the price gap with the supermarkets.0 -

It's not only unacceptable, it's plainly illegal.
If they don't offer to refund the difference straight away, the magic words are
"trading" and "standards".0
