It not fair on those that don't have the choice though Basmic, Lidl and Aldi market themselves as being cheap but good quality. I get the same quality if not better in Tesco for 30% less. With all of us having to watch the pennies I think Lidl's and the like are having a laugh (at us the consumer).

I don't think fairness rates highly in the minds of supermarket execs ;)

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. Probably not, but us shoppers where we can will vote with our feet. For those that don't have the choice they'll just buy bare essentials. All supermarkets want to be the market leader, Lidl, Aldi and Netto had the right idea, pile them high, no fancy gimmicks and sell them cheap. Greed got in the way as us shoppers flocked to their stores to save money and in the end greed will be their downfall (that goes for any supermarket not just the 3 I mentioned).
CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J

Lidl has got expensive, I had not been in for about 6 weeks and then when I did I got a big shock!

Meat had gone up alot and bread flour was 48p was now 75p! yougarts had also gone up alot.

We have recently got an Aldi and was realy looking forward to it, I must say i was disapointed, cereal was really expensive.

Went tomorrisons this week and ended up putting too much in my trolly, so going to do an online shop and see how that goes.

I have really notice the price of bread flour too, i suppose everybody is down gearing there shopping and they are trying to cash in on that, not sure that the euro would have that big an effect so quickly but, not too sure.

We've been buying the Sun recently (just for the Alton Towers offer :o )

In the 'beat the credit crunch' section Aldi has scored very poorly on the shopping basket price comparison over the last two weeks. Morrisons was the best, Tesco has dropped a bit and Waitrose was the dearest (no surprises!)

Some of their products are cheaper than the main supermarkets but you lose the quality. I hate shopping in Lidl anyway as only ever one person on the checkout with a big queue and its always cold!
No you're not a vegetarian if you eat any animal or fish, so do not insult genuine veggies by calling yourself one!

Waitrose and Sainsburys are on par I think. Tesco is catching up to them now, they are not having the good offers and bonus vouchers and seem to have got rid of their value range. It is now called rip off range.

I went to a Lidl last week and came out with some stuff.
Turns out I could've saved money by going to Tescos.
    (So next time I will!)

Orkney the sad thing in my life is that I have cut everything out but the food prices just rise and rise. I have had to stop the fresh fruit and veg and start to eat less healthy with dinners of say value noodles etc.It is a very sad fact of life to me that even with my miniscule appetite, you cannot cut food out to save money. There is just nothing else I can do to save money except stop eating. :( It is just fuel to me and a very much annoyance as an expense.
I am sorry things are hard for you. I am sure you have heard it all before, but do you check for whoopsies, bulk out with oats/lentils etc, make as much as you can. Have you thought about frozen veg ? It can be cheaper and no waste either!
    Take care.

They need to make a profit so if the overheads are rising in germany then we also feel the pinch, its basic economics
