....just back from the audiologist - not happy. ....dd(12)'s hearing is no worse than it was in october but she has a lot of glue and it looks like another infection is just around the corner. ....I feel so sorry for her - her hearing's not bad enough to warrant an aid or any extra help at school but she struggles to keep up with normal conversation and has to sit in the front at school which singles her out....
Have they mentioned grommets? That may be the next step to help her....0 -

Hi - late on here because I overslept.
Redruby - whenever your birthday is, have a great one!
Congratulations to Weezl!
Well, I have next to no idea what has been going on on here. I've been so busy packing and sorting out the paperwork needed for our move. My head is spinning and, on top of the fall I had in the garden the other day, when I hurt a hand, an elbow and a knee, I fell up the stairs this morning and hurt the other hand and the same elbow! I know it's because I'm rushing and I keep trying to calm down, but problems keep presenting themselves.
Anyway, I just wanted to let off some steam before I do something dangerous!
I hope everyone has a good day. I'll try and keep up with you all, but will be MIA a lot between now and 26th March, when I should have my new internet up and running in France.
Welcome to all the newbies!

stefejb glue ear is awful my first DD suffered from that, but while they recognise she had it they were reluctant to operate. she also has to sit at the front of the class. every time she gets a cold she gets the most terrible ear ache and often her ear drum will perforate . its awful although we are used to it now.
smoky I missed the thread for a few days and so didnt know why you were still embarrased. so had a little look back to saturday and :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: thats so funny - poor you x

Afternoon all
DGD settled at home and just about back into her routine which her mum is very pleased about :T
Hoovered and polished upstairs and cleaned bathroom. Have just set BM on for a spicy fruit loaf (am addicted to these) trouble is not going to be very spicy as ran out of mixed spice, put more cinnamon in to make up for it and a bit of nutmeg so will see how it tastes when it comes out. Just going to have some lunch and then its ironing to do. Nothing on Sky+ to watch while I iron so it will seem a long session today. Lovely and sunny out there but very cold and the wind is biting too and very strong. Have just brought a white wash in from the line in case it blew away. Don't want all my unmentionables over everyone elses garden thank you very much
Sistercas am glad your DH has his pain under control at last
Smokeybabe - I had the same thing with the Council when my mum died last year. X amount of £s for digging a hole and putting the ashes in so my mum could be with my dad as he was buried and another X amout of £s for permission to take the stone away and have my mum's details added to it  Money for old rope eh
Right, ironing here I come
Have a good day all xxxx0 -
WS - when I had a big rosemary bush at my last house i used to use the prunings as kebab sticks! Lumps of lamb or pork, made a hole in them with a sharp skewer and threaded on the rosemark stalk with peppers, onions etc - Yum! Sadly in my little garden I have now, I've only room for a very small rosemary plant.
Moggins - glad you were sounding so positive over the weekend, and all the best with your interviews!
Chrisca - we love Spicy Fruit Loaf from the BM too. It is DSD's especial fave!
Seems like Lemon Drizzle Cake was the common theme at the weekend! nic1lou2, lucylocket, justpeyon4now and myself all seem to have made it! Mine didn't last too long with the DSK's, who seemed to eat everything I cooked almost as fast as it came out of the oven!
Felt like I didn't stop all weekend until Sun evening, when I collapsed on the sofa and couldn't move!
My plantar fascilitis was playing me up again (too much time on my feet I suspect), so my foot was agony, and sadly I realised that I'm not going to be able to do stuff which uses my hands like making pastry, hand-sewing, like I used to - the psoriatic arthritis is def. worse and I had to take several attempts even to prepare the veg for Sunday lunch yesterday as I couldn't grip the knife hard enough to cut the carrots etc.
Still, Friday when I got home I chnaged all the bedding & washed & dried it, made 2 quiches, Twinks Hobnobs, Lemon drizzle cake.
Sat I went shopping and to the bank with Mum, and helped her with a few chores for Dad (who is a lot worse again - he doesn't know what day it is, and keeps asking the same questions over and over, not to mention putting his clothes on on top of his pajamas, and then denying he had done it - even though he was standing there wearing them:eek: ). We got a load of bargains in ASDA for a change! So blown my budget for March, but at least the freezer, fridge & cupboards are all well-stocked now. When we got back I made 2 loaves bread and lasagnes for tea and freezer.
Sun - more baking as DSK's had demolished all of Friday's! Apple sponge loaf, yet more bread, and bread pudding while the lunch was cooking. In between, did more washing and tried to help DSS#2 with homework (I won't get started about him again now, or i will be here all day....suffice it to say that DH & I are NOT HAPPY with him ATM, and I know that his BirthMum isn't either, so I predict some stress between DH & her this week over DSS#2....).
As I was really busy, the weekend flew by and I didn't have time to feel down & sorry for myself...until last night. We were tidying up before bed, and I mentioned how I was a bit fed up with my foot, hands, and then my shoulder had also started to ache (from chopping bushes in Mum's garden I think), and he said how he was worried about me "Here we are trying to get you pregnant, and you seem to be getting all these health problems, as well as all these headaches recently, I'm not sure if you are going to cope with a baby!". It really got to me, and I felt totally devastated and couldn't stop crying for ages, just when I was really starting to feel I had got myself together again. I'm starting to well up again now just thinking about it.
Ah well. Hope you are all having a good day. (((HUGS))) (albeit slightly sniffly ones!) to all,

Stef, hugs to your dd, hope it all works out x
Went to the DR with my dd, and she has to go back friday for a blood test at 11 which is right in the middle of the school day, and I am at work  , her school is 15 miles away, so am going to have to try and work this one out, he is testing her for thiroid and glandular fever. Hope it is all ok.
She goes up to bed at 9 at the moment and lights off at 10, but she does not drop off till about 11, and she is up at 6.30, so we thought we would try lights out at 9.30 tonight, what time do your teens to to bed ?? aged 14.
Came home mde fairy cakes, sticky ginger cake and a weetabix loaf, peeled spuds, and veg, and have three loads on the line.
Just going to do an online shop then out with the dog.

My two 16yo's are asleep by 11pm on college nights and get up at 6.30am too. My DS 14yo goes up to bed between 10.30 & 11pm and reads every night until 12ish usually. He also gets up at 6.30am, I never have to wake him, he's not tired in the day & his school work is great. He didn't need much sleep when he was little eitherYour DD sounds pretty average in her sleep going off what mine do & knowing what their friends do too. If she went up to bed at 9.30pm would she settle any earlier? Only asking as it's never made any difference to my lot they just take longer to drop off with many toilet trips etc
My 10yo DS goes up at 9pm with lights out for 9.30pm. HTH
