Thanks Greenbee! I was behind schedule, as yesterday was gorgeous so I went for a coast path walk lunch with friends-only 4 miles, but I can feel it today! Hence trying to fly today.....

Have done a bit of nice pottering in the garden - potatoes already needed topping up, daffs opened nicely, geraniums and aquilegias having a growth spurt. But that never feels like flying! :D

ETA - just seen what you are giving up for Lent! Wow - three major vices - Good luck!

If you take it to the tip they'll deal with it as electronic waste and should keep all of it out of landfill (most WEEE recyclers have a zero landfill policy). I won't get on my soapbox :o but it's best to take stuff to the tip as they make a huge effort to keep stuff out of landfill, whereas the kerbside collections are somewhat limited in what they can do.

Yes I know you are right but I just wanted rid! I shall recover it from the bin and take it next time I am passing there along with my old TFT (which I always intended to take to the tip ;) ) The closest tip is on the way to MIL's, I try to make multi use trips in the car so that a. I don't waste fuel b. I don't waste time on sinlge jobs. But typing this has reminded me that we are going up towards MIL's on Wednesday afternoon to have a picture of the SW's with their cousins for MIL's Golden wedding anniversary present so I could combine jobs then :) Just need to remember to make sure it is in the car and I remember to drop them off :rotfl:

I'm not getting far with looking for holidays! Cottages can be soooo expensive! Plus we're quite fussy...want somewhere that's nicely decorated, has a decent tv, relatively secluded but walkable to nearest pub, no pets....

I didn't phone my gran earlier, so will do so when DH finishes work as he wants to watch some cricket then.

Feel a bit odd and sickly too, probably just due to disrupting my rhythm yesterday (hopefully not MiL's roast dinner!!). Another early night I think.

Wow! That was great rugby match :D

sexymouse - I agree with greenbee; not sure he'd be allowed to set something up in your garden as there are strict rules and regs. Also don't think I'd like the idea anyway!

TAG - great to see you back!

I'm going to nip out to check the car now and then do a

The afternoon was spent in the garden and I feel good having gotten all that sunshine.

Kazw - All the potatoes have small shoots on them which have darkened up. I bought 12. I have put 6 out in black bin liners (2 in each) and will leave the other six for another couple of weeks. This is an experiment I'm looking forward to!

I've erected my new 4 tier growhouse thingy, tied it to the fence and weighted it down with a paving stone so it should't blow away! I've put it in a place where I'll see it daily so can't forget about it!

I've planted up all the flowers I bought at lunchtime and they look quite pretty.

I've planted some seeds too - basil, chilli, cucumber, baby sweetcorn and gourmet salad. They're in the little growhouse.

The side yard area's looking good - it was a bit of a mess. There are some large pots and tubs that still need sorting through. I can use them to grow things in as well.

    I'm determined to become greenfingered!

Rach - you can grow little things in pots indoors. Do you have a balcony or anything?

DD and her bloke popped by and took the dog for another walk, then stopped and had a cuppa when they came back. It was so nice to sit in the garden in the warmth of the sun drinking it.

Beef has gone in the oven. I'm about to jump in the bath with Gordon (oo er Mrs fnah fnah) and have a goodly soak then do my toenails whilst they're still soft.

Today has been a Good day

Glad you enjoyed your walk... I should have done something like that, but having had my dad here there was dirt as well as mess, so I had to deal with it before it drove me insane!

Next weekend is gardening (fingers crossed for decent weather) as my mum is coming to visit. So Tuesday (I have a day off) will probably be a trip to ikea for the last bits of the utility room.

... as for lent... the vices weren't that bad, although alcohol needed cutting down and chocolate was out of control - the coffee thing was more about cutting out the milk in the lattes!

AnW's mum - glad you're rescuing the shredder. I have a crate in the garage for stuff for the tip (batteries, lightbulbs, odd bits of metal etc) and take it when I'm passing - there's no reason for a special trip, despite what my dad thinks!

rach - where are you looking for cottages, what dates and what's your budget?

froddy - maybe we should get rach to arrange a walk for us when we meet up ;) ... at least that way we'd have something to do while we got to know each other and we'd be getting fresh air and exercise too (or would that be too much like work rach?)
