Hi all, been reading this thread with interest.
I did a carboot on Sunday with my friend in Ayr, was dire as it was such a terrible day. Was a bit peeved that the pitch fee was £15 and apparently the traders only pay £17.
Anyway I do think some people can be quite rude if they think the prices are too high, I had a suitcase full of clothes (some BNWT) including muppets, topshop and miss selfridge, priced them at 50p each or 3 for £1, got a tonguelashing from some woman who said really meanly 'she'll never sell with prices like that'. Was really quite mad cos thought the price was okay and the things were in great condition. I saw some people who had halogen heaters sitting out in the peeing rain and didnt seem to get a complaint even tho the items would be worthless. Can't some people understand that maybe you're happy to come with some stuff rather than let something go for stupid money. And that being mean won't make me drop my prices!!! Was perfectly happy to come home with a still-full car (tho I didn't buy anything) and £65 after pitch fees n food. All that on a rotten quiet day........
What's the buyer's view on this???NSD November 1/20 :money:
Crap 1, Simple Be, Next, VANQUIS, TESCO, VERY, EMPIRE, ADDITIONS, HALIFAX C/C, HALIFAX LOAN, STUDENT LOAN
Make £10 a day in November £34.57/£450 :eek:0 -
I would have told her to eff-off if she said that to me, its totally up to you how you price your stuff and those prices seem very fair and actually quite cheap for Topshop stuff. Good for you sticking to your guns, Topshop stuff sells well on ebay so you could always put some bits on there rather than sell it cheaply.
£65 is a good amount I think, we made about £30 last year when we did one. I could make more buying stuff all morning and selling it on if I wanted to, and its more fun. I like buying too muchNot been here in years! Hi everyone. Make £10 a day challenge = £78.45/1550 -
Hi catchooky,
£65 is good for a rainy day.I think I will try Ayr myself this week.Got lots of my stuff on ebay at the moment though as they are doing free listing so I will have to rummage for more to take to Ayr and hopefully sell this time.I did one in Kilmarnock last sat, weather was glorious, boot sale was very busy, pitch fee £5,and I only came home with £30."Reaching out to touch the stars dont forget the flowers at your feet".0 -
Yesterday I got some nice things in charity shops,a little jug for 30p which I have put on ebay for £4.99,some blue & white stripe cornishware items out of the 10p crate!,a Next tan leather handbag for £1.99."Reaching out to touch the stars dont forget the flowers at your feet".0

What's the buyer's view on this???
Your prices are very reasonable, I buy clothes every week at boot sales and usually pay around £1 a piece but will go up to £2 for a really nice item say Monsoon/Coast or similar esp if they're BNWT. I love it when I find a stall selling clothes for 50p each and will always have a rummage at that price, last Sunday there was a lady with piles of stuff on the floor, 50p each, I bought about 30 items from her:j.
So ignore that rude woman, some people almost want you to give your stuff away, makes me mad when I hear a seller asking for 50p for something and the buyer tries to knock them down, I'd rather take it home too or give it to charity just on principle.0 -
Great finds everyone, I bought ooh probably 2 black bin bags of clothes at last Sunday's 2 boot sales, too many to list individually but all high st labels like Per Una, M&S, Monsoon, Next, most 50p-£1 each.
I've been looking out for clothes for myself for Autumn and my wardrobe is looking much fuller now, I just love doing it on a budget and rarely buy anything new these days.
The Bank Holiday weekend is coming up and I'd normally go to boot sales on Sunday and Monday, but we're camping in Suffolk....I really need my fix! Can anyone recommend a boot sale in Bury St. Edmunds area on Sunday or Monday? TIA0 -
We went to a boot sale yesterday, we thought it would be small (being in the week) so got there late only to find it was huge (around 80 sellers), i bought 2 art deco style mantal clocks for 6.00, 2 Orchard puzzles for my daughter for 1.00, a pair of roxy trousers for 1.00, Next jacket for 1.00 and OH picked up some china a pair of shoes and a bench jacket.
We are planning on selling next week (well oh will be selling, i will be buying).0 -
I went to a huge bootsale on Saturday (actually my first i've been too for many years!) and picked up a few great things.
Barry M brand new nail varnish - 20p
Marc Jacobs Daisy Perfume, full 100ml bottle - £10! (i've seen it for £45 in the shops)
2 Boujois lip glosses - £1 each
A lovely accessorize bracelet - £1.50
Nspa lemon scrub - £1
Lush Happy Hippy shower gel - 50p
I was so pleased and now have picked up the bug (not sure if this is such a good thing hehe)
Does anyone know if the bootsale at Brentside School, Middlesex on Sundays is good?0 -
