I got stung this week - its bloody awful! It hurt sooo much and I had to really calm myself down from the shock and the instant pain. This was 2 days ago on the back of my knee and its swollen up loads and is so hot and itchy! I hope your isn't as bad, I'm notorious for reacting badly to stings and bites... took antihistamine, still taking them in fact and rubbed afterbite all over it... hope you're ok - i sympathise!!!!

    anyway my bargains today were:

clip frame (massive, right size) £2.50
fiorelli bag new, £3.50 - gave to mum for a fiver cos she liked it so much and I sold a pair of her shoes on ebay today for £12.50!
A belly dancer top for photoshoot 50p
accessorize sparkly high heels - very nice - for ebay - 50p
little leather multi colooured bag 30p
    atkins book 20p
    blanket material 10p
vogue 80s beauty book for a friend 10p
buttons - lots of big plastic colourful ones for 50p

very pleased with it all and enjoying the biggun on sundays... still think ydays bargain was the best though!! haha

lovely bargains everyone and lie ins for those who didn't go! ;)

  • Went to 2 boot sales today for the first time in weeks, really pleased with my finds, and nice to be out in the sunshine. We're planning to go camping over the August B/H weekend for the first time in years so I was looking out for camping equipment and found some real bargains:j

12v electric coolbox, new in box, £15 (retails at around £70)
    Brand new camping bed, £5
Brand new camping kitchen unit, £4
    Calorgaz lamp,£2
    Camping torch £1
Set of camping Trangia style saucepans,£2

Around 30 items of clothing, all for £1 or less, various labels , some for me, some for daughter.
2 brand new bras my size £3
Pair of pink Converse pumps for daughter £2
    Jamie Oliver flavour shaker £1
    Chef's blowtorch £1

Saw loads more things I liked but they were priced too high, including a Kitchen Aid Mixer, as new in box, the woman had only used it a couple of times. It was priced at £150 but she said she'd come down to £140, I've taken her phone number so might call and see if it sold and offer £120 (need to sort out some stuff to sell on Ebay to pay for it:D)

Hope everyone else had a happy boot sale day, look forward to reading what you all bought. I can't wait for next week now.

I think the wasps must have been out in force at the car-boots this morning - a toddler in a pushchair was stung next to me this morning. Ok, listen up guys because I'm going to hijack the thread for just a moment with an important announcement. For anyone who hasn't got one, buy - yes BUY (full price, cos you wouldn't want a second-hand one even if you found it) an aspivenin kit RIGHT NOW. I react badly, so I'd be swallowing the antihistamines too. I wouldn't go anywhere without mine nowadays - wasps, mosquitos, horse-fly bites - all are made much less severe with an aspivenin.

Boots usually do them, but they've been running an offer so it looks as if they're out of stock:
    http://www.boots.com/en/Aspivenin_2237/

If you're prepared to wait a bit, they come back into stock quite regularly.

    Other suppliers here:

    http://www.first-rescue.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=146

(actually, they're cheaper, and I've used first-rescue before, and they were fine as a company - so I'd probably go with them!!)

Once you've had one in the car as part of your standard first aid kit, you'll wonder what you did without it!

Link below is a review/explanation of the kit from The Guardian, a few years ago:

  • thanks mandragora, luckily the sting came out by itself, and my mum tweezed it off the top of my skin - nasty thing had little barbs coming out in other directions, not just one pointy bit...

will def get one of those aspiven things as my nephew is around a lot and is quite likely to get stung as he's pretty boistrous!

thanks - and even more bargains folks! and ebay successes!! fab...
