Welcome to the thread, Char1986 :T
lulu650: A couple of my friends have suggested I write a book or magazine article but BF reckons it might inspire more people to go booting, jumbling and chazzing which would mean less goodies for us!
No boot sales for us today. Had a very heavy night/morning and decided on a little hair of the dog at the pub instead. Our mate had a couple of bargains to show off - a new with tags Peter Werth brown leather biker jacket he'd got for a fiver from a boot sale (currently retailing at £175) and one of those undated 20p pieces he'd been given in change after buying a book!

Lots of nice furniture but she wanted £25 for a bedside table - I bought one new for that price yesterday! She wouldn't haggle either. One guy asked the price of an urn, she said £5. He said asked if she'd accept £4 and she refused! Wonder how much she had to lug home with her afterwards?
Some sellers are ridiculous. Hope she gets stuck with all of it.0 -

I think some sellers would prefer to take things home than sell them for less than their asking price; I've heard people say"I'd rather give it away" than accept a lower offer, and "I'd rather take it home than sell it for that". What's the point in offering it for sale then? Surely the point is to get rid of your unwanted stuff? When I go as a seller I want to SELL, and go home with an empty car if I can (well apart from the stuff I buy while I'm there of course;)).0 -

, but no chance of dragging DH he wouldn't be seen dead at a jumble sale, nor will 17 year old DD....she refuses to look in local charity shops too and doesn't even like me looking in the windows on the rare occasions she's in town with me, in case someone spots us who knows her and that would be sooo embarrassing! She says she wouldn't care if we were in another town so guess what we'll be doing when we go visit my Mum in Cornwall this summer! And with any luck there might be jumble sale.

I'm with you on this one, I've been known to give stuff away at the end of the BS just so I don't have to take it home again!!:j30/7/10:j

Nice to see everyone's snaffling up the bargains of late! Part of me wishes people weren't cottoning on to the joy of boot sales as I found so many people hiking prices and avoiding haggling this weekend. It didn't put me off though and I found some lovely things:
10 x thomas the tank hardback books for nephew: £1
BN linen boy fit blazer, primark but lovely: £2 (fits me well so wont sell)
4 x vintage handbags, beaded and embroidered, for ebay: £1 each
1 x vintage satchel bag (the brand is chiltern?? very well made, not genuine leather but feels expensive, going to investigate the make) for ebay, £2
Then today, went to the old haunt (finally after 2 months in devon!!) and was dissapointed!!!! haha shows that if look forward to car boot too much you won't snaffle any bargains!!! But did get:
1 x herve leger style bandage dress BNWT for £1.50
(hopefully this fits but may need to lose a few pounds as body con)
1 x gold and green snakeskin vintage bangle for 50p
I'm thinking of setting up a jumble sale soon for a family charity but not got a clue how to go about it, but think I will get first dibs on some beautiful things as living in affluent area... so fingers crossed!!
Like I said, lots of stupid prices this weekend, and a LOT of tat and traders.... a sign of the times and the fact that popularity is a double edged sword - more stuff to look through but more buyers!!!
