I find it really hard to choose which stall to go to first, if I go to the clothes then everyone else is snapping up the bric a brac, or the books...and that's if I can get near the stalls, the last one a couple of months ago I just couldn't elbow my way near the ladies clothes, people were getting irate with each other 'cos there just wasn't space to move!
With this particular jumble sale theres two queues; one for bric-a-brac and the other for clothing, textiles and books. Each are held in separate rooms.
Most folks go for bric-a-brac. BF and I usually head for clothing (which is quieter) have a good rummage then I move onto the textiles pile. He pays and takes the goodies to the car. I go back to the clothing, which by now has been mixed up and the stuff at the bottom has risen to the top whilst he'll go into the bric-a-brac room.
As our taste is a bit weird the stuff we like is usually still left! There's often retro patterned deckchairs, vintage leather suitcases, bizzare pictures and other general madness just waiting for a good home.
After we've exhausted the bric-a-brac we'll have a final minesweep of the clothing and check out the books and magazines.0 -
Its raining here today so I've had a lie in instead
I hate those pushy people who shove everyone out of the way. I had a go at a lady at last sundays bootsale for pushing me. Rude mooNot been here in years! Hi everyone. Make £10 a day challenge = £78.45/1550 -
My best bargains were a red clutch bag in a charity shop I bought for £3.50 and sold for nearly £30 on ebay as "Samantha-esque from Sex and the City" and an ovulation tester kit from the bootsale I got for £2 and sold for nearly £50 on ebay!0

always love reading the posts here, particularly goanmad. You should really submit an article to newspapers or a magazine, complete with photos, goanmad!
Today, black stretch jeans from Next and woolmix cardi from Primark. Both new with tags, 75p each.
Couple of weeks ago, a burbery check shirt for 50p. On ebay, same one, same size, same condition sold for £31. Annoyingly fits me really well, but the same design is part of a Girls school uniform in our town!Saving money right, left and centre0 -

:TI think I need to decide what to concentrate on, probably clothes as I buy stuff for myself and if I'm lucky find a few bits to sell on Ebay. I might pay more attention to the weird stuff in future, but no chance of dragging DH he wouldn't be seen dead at a jumble sale, nor will 17 year old DD....she refuses to look in local charity shops too and doesn't even like me looking in the windows on the rare occasions she's in town with me, in case someone spots us who knows her and that would be sooo embarrassing! She says she wouldn't care if we were in another town so guess what we'll be doing when we go visit my Mum in Cornwall this summer! And with any luck there might be jumble sale.

Raining here too so no boot sales for two weeks now:mad:.
I did pop in a couple of charity shops this week, don't usually have time but working in a school I've finished work for a few weeks so can have a browse, lovely:D
I bought:
Lovely M&S light blue shrug, £2.60. I nearly bought one a few months back but was a bit skint at the time. Looks really nice over a white vest top.
All clothes 1/2 price at my local hospice CS, so bought a Per Una sheer blouse with blue & green rose print, I love it, only £1.50, and a Next sheer cream blouse, great for work, also £1.50. Plus I picked up 6 paperbacks for the summer, 50p each.
I'll pop into town this week to see what else I can find, thinking about work clothes for the Autumn now.0 -

Rubbish car boot today - it rained on and off and everyone looked miserable and downtrodden! No bargains to be had at all. One stall had a lot of interest, the lady behind it was obviously well-off and clearing out, but she was asking ridiculous prices for everything. Lots of nice furniture but she wanted £25 for a bedside table - I bought one new for that price yesterday! She wouldn't haggle either. One guy asked the price of an urn, she said £5. He said asked if she'd accept £4 and she refused! Wonder how much she had to lug home with her afterwards?0
