Congratulations on your forthcoming wedding.
My "would hate to be without" as follows:
Remoska
Slow Cooker
Hand mixer
Mermaid baking tins (had them for years and they are still like new despite being used very regularly)
I also love Sheridan bedding (the only place I know that now sells this is Debenhams). It is expensive but feels so luxurious and always looks good.0 -
Away from the kitchen, we bought John Lewis towels with some of the vouchers we had for our wedding, I love the quality of these, thick and fluffy and still keep their colour after plenty of use (the rest of the vouchers we put towards a new telly).Make £2025 in 2025

Money is going to be tight for a lot of people this year so it would be unfair to ask for a lot of expensive pressies.
The things that I would put on a list are:
Good quality Bath Sheets
Enamel roasting pans
Stick Blender
Slo Cooker
Hand Mixer
Mixing Bowls
Colander and sieves
Lamps
An Airer
Or you could ask for a gift basket - things for each room in the house
for example:
A laundry basket filled with Pegs, Peg bag, Washing Powder, Softener etc
A Wicker Basket for the Bathroom with Towels, Flannels, Bath Smellies etc
A Kitchen Basket with measuring spoons, mixing bowl, sieve, spatula, rolling pin, pastry brush and such like
A Washing up Bowl with Teatowels, Dishcloths, Washing up liquid, stardrops, washing up sponges
You get my drift?
People can buy a little something each week and it won't seem like a major expense and everything is useful and will save on your first shopping bill after the weddingBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Well you could also go totally basic and ask for a box full of staples like pasta, rice, tins etc... Of course you'd need space to store it but I think I'd be quite happy with that... imagine someone buys you £40 worth of pasta... that's about 40 kg of pasta or thereabouts... should see one through for a while..0

When my sons each got married, I made them up big laundry baskets of things like pegs, ironing board covers, cloths of all sorts, tea towels, bin liners, sandwich and freezer bags, freezer bag clips, various utensils, dustpan and brush sets, Stardrops (of course!), bicarb, soda crystals, household candles, matches, rubber gloves, latex gloves. I also made smaller baskets with things like envelopes, large and small, printer paper, some ring binders, clear punched pockets, note books, stamps, pens, sellotape and dispensers, elastic bands, paper clips, drawing pins with noticeboards, permanent markers, hole punches, staplers and so on. I included fun things, as well. DIL2's nan made her up a lovely basket full of sewing things. They were really grateful for all the things because it saved them money and lasted for months. It was easier for me, too, because I could buy bits every week but the finished results looked great with big bows tied all over the baskets. I do something similar whenever anyone in the family gets married or moves into their first home, so I am always picking up bits and pieces for the next person.KNIT YOUR SQUARE TOTALS:

Another thought. A Steam cleaner. Brilliant. Cuts down on all cleaning products, can use it for many things cleaning windows, loos, tiles, cookers carpets, curtains, the list goes on. Cuts out so many nasty chemicals. Very OS. The hand held ones are ok but personally I would go for the next size up. About £50. P
Please don't be embarrassed to put down what you really want but do suggest that its ok for people to club together. The problem with common sense is its not very common:rotfl:

When we got married in 2004, we didn't have a wedding list, but got lots of vouchers and money from friends and family - M&S, John Lewis and Argos, all of which were useful. Bought my slow-cooker from John Lewis and it's been great.
Another voucher suggestion is Ikea - I wouldn't be without their 365+ large pans, I've got a 5 litre and an 8 litre one which are great for making soup in bulk as well as for when I make a duff (big Scottish fruit dumpling)
The other thing that's been really useful is a hand held vacuum cleaner - it's great for doing the stairs and spot cleaning instead of dragging out the big one0 -
I'd second the hand held vac, we got one just before Christmas and it's been great. Really handy for getting 'bits' off the kitchen floor and picking up all those breadcrumbs you get from cutting home made bread from your breadmachine.Make £2025 in 2025

....on your wedding gift list?
Oh and I are choosing ours tomorrow and I'm wondering if you guys can think of any essentials you wish you'd bought earlier/asked for etc.
We are only just moving in together - neither of us has lots of stuff so the gift list is a bit traditional for us to set up our home together. We like to live a pretty OS life with lots of home cooking. I can't wait to have a big kitchen filled with family and nice smells!!
The only thing we definitely want is a posh dinner service and a daily dinner service. Oh, and probably some silver cutlery coming from the grandparents.
My mum said she's really glad she got a kenwood mixer.
My mother in law to be said fish knives as you'd never buy them for yourself!!
Thanks!

Good towels
Good knives
A set of chopping boards
oven-to-table ware
These are some of the things on our wedding list 13 years ago that are still in use today and I really value them.0
