Also think hand blender is handy.
I wouldn't be without Le Creuset now although didn't have it when I got married. I have a soup pot type size and it gets used most in this house. Cooks things on stove, in oven and is lovely enough to take straight to table with hot food and has even held salad or bread rolls. Pricy though.
As others have said, good knives.

congratulations
I got a magimix which i love, mermaid roasting tins - fab!, and good knives0 -
I would definitely say a decent set of saucepans, and preferably ones you buy individually so that you only have the ones you'd use. We have 1 large saucepan, 1 milk pan and a medium frying pan and it covers us for everything. They weren't cheap (KitchenAid) but we go them for our wedding almost 3 years ago and they like new.
Lock and Lock I wouldn't be without.
Really decent baking tins/silicon if a decent make will last forever. Much better than buying Smartprice ones every 3 months which I seem to do!!0 -
definately my bread maker and slow cooker and dishes:xmastree:Is loving life right now,yes I am a soppy fool who believes in the simple things in life :xmastree:0

Congratulations!
Like you when we married in 2005 we had pretty much everything so didn't ask for anything. Wouldn't be without a breadmaker and were lucky enough to be given posh cutlery and some nice crystal vases and some lovely things for the garden including a patio heater and ornaments. But the best gifts were Argos vouchers. We amassed quite a lot and over the last few years (we spent the last of them in August 08!) have used them to replace a toaster, kettle, alarm clock and lots of other things.0 -
Just a word of warning. If you do get silicon bakeware (most of it marvellous by the way) be sure not to get any with "rippled" bases - they're very difficult to clean.:wave:0

If you get a slow cooker be sure and get one two person sized (assuming you don't have kids yet
) - I got one as a gift that's huge and I can't really use it because it has to be two thirds full so we'd be eating the same meal for a week  although DH would actually be OK with that
If you like pizza I'd also say add a couple of pizza stones - using your breadmaker, dough can be done in 45 mins and homemade pizzas are filling, cheap, and feel like a treat.0 -
i am not married but can only talk about my kitchen must haves - top of the list is a hand (stick blender) mine gets used a couple of times a week, and a pan steamer - i use mine almost daily (and did not like my house mates electric one), decent knives, pyrex dishes (i have loads from a small one for melting chocolate to a big one for mixing cakes) i could not survive without my wok (bought off a family member who put it on her weding list and got 4!) i dont use my microwave and toaster. look at your lifestyle and what you would use if you had it - put these items on your list!! if in doubt ask for vouchers as you can then buy what you need.Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. There is no more hope for a fool than for someone who says, "i am really clever!"0

freeze the extra and serve it another day - if you go on to have kids the bigger slow cooker will be a boon.Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. There is no more hope for a fool than for someone who says, "i am really clever!"0 -
If you have someone particularly generous I'd ask for Kenwood Chef (am dying for one, but my jar is almost full then I'll get it!)
Definitely good pans and knifes, I have a pan that my grandma bought in the 50ies, it's the German equivalent of Le Creuset (hence less stylish) but it's still the best pan I have ever had!
I like white bedding, so I'd probably ask for some good quality egyptian cotton duvet covers, sheets and pillow cases. White never goes out of fashion and if they are good quality they will last you a lifetime!
