i dont think that they do say that on them come to think of it

they usually say something along the lines of " can be used wet or dry without the need for chemicals" etc etc

they are like very soft flannels in look / texture

THey do say microfibre on the ones at tesco and wilkos!
  • I picked a pack of these up yesterday. Only problem is I am not quite sure how to use them. The instructions on the pack say damp or dry, but does that amount to a good clean? Do I not need some detergent to remove germs or is it best to used good old fashioned elbow grease?
Bearing in mind that I'm not as young as most of you, would it be better to use ordinary cloths and detergents? Oh dear I sound terribly old, but that is how I feel today. :(
Well.......I'm in the pension queue every Monday :D and I've been using mircofibre cloths for about 25 years, my original ones were from Lakeland.
I use them dry for dusting and slightly damp or wet-ish with Stardrops and plenty of elbow grease when necessary for everything else, which gets rid of all the muck and enough germs to keep me healthy and give my immune response system a good workout.
Lakeland now do a microfibre mop - my order's in the post :j

I'm new to microfibre, be gentle with me:o

I had a look for these in Asda yesterday and I couldn't find anything that looked right. There were dishcloths that look like woven string, and other cloths that were a finer weave, and the usual yellow dusters. I did have a good look at the packages but I couldn't see the word "microfibre" printed anywhere and I didn't want to risk buying the wrong thing.

I can try Sainsbury's or Somerfield locally but for any other suppliers I'll have to wait till I'm passing.

Sorry if it's a stupid question, but do microfibre cloths actually have the word MICROFIBRE printed on the packaging, or is there some code word I should be looking for? ;)

I couldn't find Stardrops in Asda either, but that's another story :(

Now I come to think about it, my local Asda sucks. Their school uniform range is dismal too

I had exactly the same question and problem! I went to 2 Sainsburys store, 1 Tesco's, Savers and Wilkos and couldn't find them anywhere! I wouldn't buy anything else, just in case it wasn't the right thing (and then a waste of money).

I ended up in a different Tesco's where I got them. Yes, they did have MICROFIBRE written on them. They are with the dusters/other cloths - they look/feel a bit like thin towelling.

Stardrops I found in Sainsburys, again none in Tesco's or Asda here. Seems to be a bit hit and miss as to where you can get 'less common' items.

    Good luck in getting some!

Ive been reading some ( sorry not all ) of this thread and am going to have to try these microfibre cloths out. I currently use rags ( old tea towels, sheets etc ) for dusting/windows/mirrors/tiles etc with mr muscle window cleaner - used to use vinegar and water years ago but didnt like the smell. Now going to put a few drops of essential oil into it to make it smell nicer.
I normally use them little scourer sponges with bathroom cleaner - what would anybody suggest for bath/tiles/shower to clean with the microfibre cloths ? would stardrops work ?
Currently use cloth with flash bleach for cooker top and work tops - again what would anybody suggest for use with the microfibre cloths

thanks for this thread - cant wait to try them out

    I've been Money Tipped!
I was in Lidl the other day and they had 3 cloths (32cm x 32cm) in white for £2.95 I think it was. They had finer ones for glass too, around the same price AFAIR
