daisy i use hot water with a drop of stardrops & vinegar in (with microfibre cloth) to clean most things to be honest
its tough enough to clean bathroom & general kitchen grime,(if cooker etc is very dirty i use a solution of soda crystals and water ) also good on paintwork - skirtings, door frames ,banisters etc0 -
Just picked up 2 'more' microfibre cloths from Aldi, the pack contains 1 general cloth, plus a velour microfibre cloth for cleaning glass etc. for only £1.29. They are a bit larger than the Tesco ones and the quality is as good!0

I bought the same pack from Aldi, one 'smooth' cloth and one 'towelling.' Yesterday I bought some 49p spray bottles from Sainsbury's. Today I filled the bottle with a solution of white vinegar and water and went through the ground floor cleaning all the windows and mirrors. I sprayed with the vinegar solution first, then used the towelling cloth damp on the surfaces and then buffed with the 'smooth' cloth. I couldn't believe how clean everything looked and no smearing, better than anything I've tried before. I then started work on the kitchen tiles. the came up a treat. I'm really surprised how clean and shiny everything looks. There was a faint smell of vinegar at first but now there is nothing. Thanks everyone for the tip, I'll never go back to windolene again.Books - the original virtual reality.

and I've been using mircofibre cloths for about 25 years, my original ones were from Lakeland.
I use them dry for dusting and slightly damp or wet-ish with Stardrops and plenty of elbow grease when necessary for everything else, which gets rid of all the muck and enough germs to keep me healthy and give my immune response system a good workout.
Lakeland now do a microfibre mop - my order's in the post :j
With ceramic floor tiles & a dog who loves her walks, do you think the microfibre mop would work on these tiles? They aren't smooth ones though as I didn't want the dog and people to go flying across the kitchen . I do have a steam cleaner but to just have something quick and easy to clean the floor every day instead of getting this out would be so helpful. Thank you.

Lara I picked up a couple of microfibre floor cloths and these seem to whizz over my floor attached to one of those swiffer mop
It's worth a try. I use an orange spray cleaner to zap any particularly dirty spots before I mop.

Thanks very much moggins. I was on the same thought level as this earlier. Have had a good clean on my georgian style panes of glass with microfibre cloths - brilliant! :j Thank you for this thread. My Mum gave me one of these cloths in a lovely shade of green a couple of years ago for my dog - she said it would dry her quicker. I just smiled and plonked it under the sink - guess what? It's been out today and dried her (the dog, not my Mum
) as quick as a flash from the wet this afternoon. Usually I use the hairdryer, which she loves, but I wiped her over with the cloth and the dirt off her paws:eek: yuk! Cloth now on top rack of switched on dishwasher;) .

:j This is my first post! I'm all new. Well... like daisy I have been cleaning with old towels/t-towels and rags until I was reading about microfibre cloths and remembered that my dad had given me some ages ago. I tried them out last week and they are absolutely fab!!! :T I like to use the least amount of chemicals as possible and these cloths are great. My big tip is I mix a drop of washing up liquid and water in a squeeze bottle (like a empty washing up bottle) and use this for wiping doors, light switches and general dusting. Its great to use with these cloths. I'm going to get my stardrops tomorrow and see what thats like for the bathroom!0
