Hi, this is the Daily Thread for wenens4 March 2009. This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly, but if not, it's not a problem.
Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Daily Threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good!
Morning.
Missed a couple of days as I was away on a course in Exeter.
Snow here today, well some sort of hail sleet mix, but it's white outside. Cold and windy too.
Off to work soon and see what rubbish has landed on my desk.
Need to stop 'nipping' to the shop for some milk as I end up buying too many other things too. Although they had some nice wine in Lidl on offer for £2.99, so I thought why not.... 14% cabernet and Pinotage from S Africa, which was quite ok.
Need to get bathed....cheers

Good morning N9eav and all who follow.
Well, we had the mother of all storms last night; howling winds and rain lashing at the windows, and it turned quite cold, too. I thought Spring was on the way, but I was very wrong!
I hope everyone is feeling well. I haven't had time to keep up with all the news now that we are packing for our move across the channel. Less that three weeks now so I am finally taking it all seriously! I still can't quite believe it.
Dinner last night was an easy HM pie, chips and gravy, just to save time and effort. I am running the freezer down now, so heaven knows what sort of odd concoctions we shall be eating for the next couple of weeks! It'll be strange to see the freezer emptying but I am looking forward to a big re-stock once we've moved.
DH visited his sister yesterday; her youngest is four years old and she had loads of baby things she no longer needs, which she has very kindly given to DS2 and DIL for their baby, due in August. She's given so many things, it will save them a fortune. She doesn't do 'economy' so there are some lovely things that they would not have been able to spend so much money on. DH picked up all the baby things and some furniture she was getting rid of. OUr house in France is much bigger than the one we are living in at the moment, so it should help to fill it up. It's all in pine, which matches our own furniture.
Well, I suppose I'd better get DH up. He has very little work at the moment so is at least handy for the packing! I shall also get him to make some of the many phone calls that need to be made ready for our move.
Dinner tonight is undecided at the moment. Someone is coming over late afternoon to 'service' my PC, so I may do dinner at lunchtime, just to get it out of the way, so I'd better think of something quick!
I'll try and keep up with the thread today; I don't know how long my PC will be out of action - just hours, I hope, not days!
Have a great day, everyone.

I may to blame for the weather!!!. As it has been nice over the past week or so I purchased a rotary clothes airer for the garden, just after it arrives the weather turns bad. Just my luck.I used to suffer from lack of motivation.... now I just can't be arsed.

Kathy we had the storm last night too, and the weather people have said thet we might get snow tomorrow  , I am very excited for you about your move xx
Off to work today, but finish early so not too bad, I have got some salmon out of the freezer for tea, think I will do it with new pots, brocoli and green beans.
Rubish has gone out this morning, and I need to do a wash tonight. My lovely mum found me two huge YS haddock yesterday, so they are residing in the freezer, think might make a kegeree out of one :T
Chrisca, hope your grand daughter improves today xx
Hugs to those in need have good days all xx0 -
Morning Everyone
Damp and dismal here today - will need my SAD lamp on for sure.
Not too much os unfortunately having a office day. Loads of money juggling and filing, but I will be happy when I get some done.
Probably no time for baking, and having a easy tea of scampi & new pots.
Will try and get back later.

Morning,
Cold, wet & windy here too. Going shopping today think I'll try Mr A for a change they seem to have lots of offers on at the moment. Don't know whats for dinner this evening yet - I'll wait for inspiration to strike!
Chrisca I'm so sorry for calling your granddaughter a grandSON I only realised yesterday while reading everyone else's posts. I hope she is improving the poor little mite. Hugs & prayers for her.
I hope that everyone will have good days, Kathy Try to have a break between packing so you don't end up exhausted. It all sounds very exciting!
Hugs all round, I'll 'see' you all later

Morning everyone - hope you're all well today?
It's dryish here just now and no snow on the ground, so that's something. Not been outside yet, so don't know how cold it is.
Had my cook-a-thon last night and made 2 pans of soup - lentil and bacon and a spicy butternut squash. Got 11 portions out of that, so they're all either in the fridge or freezer now. DH is off to work with a L&B in his lunch bag. Also made a carrot & coconut loaf and a banana cake.
Our meal for £9 from Tesco was delish - we both enjoyed it and would have it again. The chicken kievs were "proper" rather than being made with reformed meat and you could tell the difference!
I've got a load of whites in the washing machine just now, but I don't know if I'll risk hanging them outside today?
Got a busy day ahead at work and then need to catch up on some paperwork at home, as I head off on a work trip tomorrow and I'll be away for over 10 days.
Have a good day everyone, whatever you're up to. If you can't be good, be good at it!0 -
Morning All!
Pouring here in Hastings at the moment.:o
WM on already, only a half load of whites, but I hate it building up.
Wasn't too good yesterday, fatigue kicked in, I was in bed by 6.30. Feel better this morning, although the feet are the same:o
Occ Health tomorrow. May know something, but others who have seen this doctor (young, asian, female) say she doesn't give much away, so we shall see.
HM leek and potato soup for lunch. Pasta for dinner.
Have a good day all!I Believe in saving money!!!:T

Morning All,
Snow here, not much but more on the way forcast. Had to do plastering y/day in DD2's bedroom. The plasterer who skimmed the ceiling didn't do the top bit off the walls where we had removed coving, I was anoyed because I asked him to do it, that's put me behind as it needs to dry before I can paint the walls. I did size the ceiling (seal the plaster) filled and sanded. Today I'll paint the ceiling and satinwood all woodwork. Might take de-humidifier to dry out the plaster as time is running away. 6 days until Birthing day.
Have beef casserole defrosting to go with new pots and veg for dinner. Last night I made a lasagne for DD2 and SiL2b, saves DD cooking as she is struggling having to carry a HUGE bump. CANDYGIRL how is your DD coping with hers?
I haven't caught up with y/day's thread so off to do that then off to paint.

Morning :hello:
I didn't get much done yesterday, my mum turned up with hot cross bunsOn monday, Moggins bought round cream cakes. I wonder who'll turn up today, I fancy a jam doughnut
Am grateful to Moggins that she didn't tell you all how messy I am when I eat cake, lol.
Moggins, it's obvious you know what you're doing so just stick with your decision. Your friend will come round eventually, I bet she just wanted you to herself for a while.
My neighbour's GD came round last night with a HUGE bouquet of flowers from the family, to say thanks for last wednesday (last week I told you all it happened on tuesday, I got my days mixed up ). M is improving a tiny bit each day :T
Today I'm going to potter round the house. I have a mental list of things to do but I'm not sticking to it rigidly cos if I don't get round to something, I get annoyed  One thing that'll definitely get done is the trip to the shop for coffee and chocolateI still have a lot to do in the garden. And I need to check the mouse trap.
