pc wont boot up - possible virus

To Repair and Reset the TCP/IP Winsock in Windows Vista
- Click on the Windows Vista Start button.
- Type Cmd in the Start Search text box.
- Press Ctrl-Shift-Enter keyboard shortcut to run Command Prompt as Administrator. Allow elevation request.
- Type netsh winsock reset in the Command Prompt shell, and then press the Enter key.
- Restart the computer.

Now, on my wireless connection it says
IPv4 connectivity local
IPv6 connectivity limited
media state enabled
does this sound right?
also, there used to be a little globe in taskbar over the two computers that show internet is working, but its not showing now0 -

yes rik, x box working fine - i have plugged laptop straight into modem but still no connection even though it thinks its connected. ( shows limited connection but there is none)0

Have you got the vista disc?
Id say you should put it in at bootup and run a REPAIR with it
(Ps ~ sorry about this. never expected the bittorent program to be such a hassle):idea:0 -
didnt get any discs with it ( bought it at pc world - groan ) but did get instruction with manual that says "this computer includes a new system recovery feature that does not require cd's" and so everything is on the hard drive,0

Best bet then is probably to backup anything you need (Photos etc), then use the recovery feature:idea:0
