Let's say someone notices they've been sent a lower spec camera in error. They attempt to return it for the correct one, but the salesman said "why should I bother, you wouldn't have tried to return it if it was a higher spec one "
Actually Currys would more than likely laugh in your face if you tried this."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
I would be more concerned with wasting £36 a year on a warranty0

Whats changed is that now I have used a higer spec camera I am used to it, I would be now disspointed if I got the lower sepc one, had I not used the higher spec one I would be been happy with it.
Aww now that's not really an excuse not to return it.
Mind you OH bought me a coffee maker for my birthday (could of been worse could of been a lawnmower) and it leaked from day one, so returned it to be told none left in stock i had to wait a month for another to be bought in from another branch, this too leaked just like the first, seems there was an manufacturing problem on them, but they didn't inform us, an i am positive the 2nd coffee pot was 2nd hand, just by the box already opened (seal was broken on the box) instruction book out of the packed etc, he took it back and just asked for a refund, i now have a perfectly working coffee pot bought elsewhere and a different brandLife is about give and take, if you can't give why should you take?0 -
Forgot to update you on this.... They phone a couple more days letter saying you know you don't have a warranty now.. I said I understand that.
few months later now. heard nothing back. I will not be returning it now :money:
Thanks for all the comments!0 -

I would be happy to return the item if the shop paid for time, fuel and mileage and they had the original camera in stock to exchange. I would only go at a time of my own convenience.
If Currys really want it back that badly then the muppet Store Manager will have a car that he can shift his/her behind into and drive to the OP.The man without a signature.0 -
One other concern is if you need to get it fixed. Even if you go back to the manufacturer, they would want proof of purchase, but your receipt will not match the camera you have. Hence, no valid proof of purchase.
EDIT: !!!!!!. Beaten.0 -

Not necessarily.
I'd had items fixed under manufacturer's warrenty without a proof of purchase. A serial number and rough date of purchase has sufficed."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."

A thought... what would have happened if you had purchased it as a gift? There's no way you could ask for the gift back, well, I certainly wouldn't be.0
