Just going back to the original post - how do they know they've given you the wrong camera? Have you confirmed that you've got the wrong one?

How about just saying you have the right one and are not interested in swapping?

Agree - call their bluff and tell them you have the correct camera.

Well i know taht if you have been in the store and bought it and walked out of the store , then there is no law saying you have to give it back or pay the difference etc. because they have sold it to you , end of.

However , if you bought and paid for it online and got it delivered , it may be different as it comes under the distance selling act. :)

May be worth a little check out with your local Trading standards :)

    Hello All,

I reserved online a digital SLR camera from Currys, paid and also bought a memory card for it, I have opened it and have been using it, I bought this Sunday morning, However today I get a phone call telling me that they have given me the wrong camera and I need to return it ASAP and they will give me another one as this one is £200 more.

What are my legal rights with this?

    Thanks in advance

Just give it back and get the correct one.

You'd be crying like a baby if it was the other way around.

For some reason people think it's OK to rip off businesses....

Why should the OP be inconvenienced with having to return to the shop in their own time and own expense when all they tried to do was purchase a camera?

    Because that's life.

Why should the camera shop be ripped off by a free-loader?

All he has to do is go back to the shop and swap it for the correct one.

If it was me I'd sell the used camera on Ebay, hoping to make a tidy profit, particularly with a £200 margin. I wouldn't then have to worry about not having a warranty / guarantee for the camera. I'd then go back to the shop and buy the camera I wanted to buy originally (and hope they make the same mistake again).

If you don't want to do that .... well you could easily say that you have given the camera away as a gift and are unable to get it back.
