Sold me wrong product Currys - Wants it back

I agree tough they have given you the camera now its too late, they cant charge you extra its their mistake and one they dont seem to have proved yet. Just say its been given as a present.
Its their mistake and they are chancing that they can get the product back.
For all of you who look on the moral side of this, just remember how difficult places like currys are when an item goes fault one day out of warranty they dont give a toss about you then do they!!!
good luck op i would keep it."Save the cheerleader - Save the world"0 -

didnt OP notice the camera they got was higher spec than expected?
I didn't notice is was the wrong model because its on spec above mine, so its still a SONY AG something, to be honest I don't know a thing about Digital SLR'S so I didn't look into this one and notice the difference.0 -

I agree, and can you imagine, this camera was 1/2 price, but if they scanned it and it game up £400 and I paid that, im certain they wouldn't call me and tell me that they owe me £200.0 -

Why should the camera shop be ripped off by a free-loader?
Camera shop? Curry's is a HUGE retailer maybe they should now learn from their mistakes?0 -
Well i know taht if you have been in the store and bought it and walked out of the store , then there is no law saying you have to give it back or pay the difference etc. because they have sold it to you , end of.
However , if you bought and paid for it online and got it delivered , it may be different as it comes under the distance selling act.
May be worth a little check out with your local Trading standards
Thanks for that I will contact my local Trading Standards and ask them, I didn't buy online I just reserved, and paid instore, so its not distance selling because I could see the item if I wanted to.
And I am being 100% honest I didn't even know I had the wrong camera until they phoned me up, I did no intentionally "Rip" Currys Off.0 -
Not wanting to go into rights or wrongs of this statement, but how would currys prove they sold you the wrong camera.?
What would stop you say, going to argos, buying the camera you meant to (or the one currys meant to sell you) tell them here you go, this is the camera I bought. It must be an error on your computer.
(then you could take the second camera back to argos fro a refund under the 14 day thingy saying its unsuitable)No Longer works for MBNA as of August 2010 - redundancy money will be nice though.

hmmmm now theres a good idea, I am going to speak to Trading Standards first because if I am in the right I will stand my grounds. I think if it did have to come to courts they would give it, it would cost them more than the camera worth in court fees.0 -
Knowing people that have brought things from curries that are supposed to be brand new, but are obviously returned goods,
you'd be doing the public a favour by keeping it.Martin Lewis is always giving us advice on how to force companies to do things.
How about giving us advice on how to remove ourselves from any part of MoneySupermarket.com
I hereby withdraw any permission Martin might have implied he gave MoneySupermarket.com to use any of my data. Further more, I do not wish ANY data about me, or any of my posts etc to be held on any computer system held by MoneySupermarket.com or any business it has any commercial interests in.0 -
So now we know why Curry's ask for your name and address when you buy a £8 kettle.Doing voluntary work overseas for as long as it takes .......
My DD might make the odd post for me0 -
What would happen, if for arguments sake, you had bought the camera for your partner/son/parent and they had already left to go on holiday, taking it with them? The camera would be unable to be returned in that instance.
I dont think Currys have a leg to stand on here but the phone call is an exercise in damage limitation in the hope that the customer will play along.
As already pointed out, they wouldn't be chasing you if the opposite had happened and you had been given a lesser spec camera, would they?
Personally, I wouldn't be playing ball.Herman - MP for all!0
