beware booking a travelodge room in case you have to cancel it, i booked a room at a saver rate in wales for £42 5 days later i had to cancel the room.
I am still trying to get my money back, i have quoted the 14 day cooling off period to them and still i am having no joy.
I took out insurance with them but this is proving difficult too.
My advice is Premier inns.
Has anyone had a similar experience ?0 -

the 14 day cooling off period relates to cancellation of the insurance policy, not the cancellation of a room
the insurance only covers room cancellation for death/illness, vehicle breakdown, or if your boat/plane/train was severely delayed - if the reason you want to cancel doesnt fall under these, then you arent covered
Premier Inn has the same policy, in that they allow no cancellations/amendments or refunds on saver rate rooms

It is clearly stated at the time of booking that "saver rates" are NON refundable.0

depends on what you view as a refund. if you have insurance and want to claim as per the terms of the policy, then you get your money back on a saver rate room. which could be classed as a round the houses refund
i think the OP is annoyed that they dont have the option to just cancel a saver rate room, even if you have paid for insurance. whereas with flexible rates, you can cancel up until 12noon on the day of arrival, and still get your money back (insurance policy is not)
However, suggesting using Premier Inn instead of Travelodge is complete nonsense. for one PL dont even offer insurance, so if you book a saver rate room, you cant get your money back at all, and secondly, PI saver rate rooms are more expensive than TL, so you stand to have an even bigger monetary loss, should you decide to not keep to your booking

I managed to bag a few rooms for business trips to Brum for £9 each, and a few at £12.50.
That's a great saving as I stay overnight once a week.
However, I can't seem to find any rooms at all for a reasonable price in Birmingham for the week of 7th-11th February 2011. Does anyone know what's going on this week? It's like the Tory conference all over again - most hotels were profiteering greatly from that.0 -
The trade gift fair is on at the NEC 6th-10th february 2011,it takes over most halls at the NRC and is international, usually about 3000 stands0

I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar issue to me. I was booking a 2 room one night stay at the Manchester Airport Travelodge for next May. Found the rooms for £15 each and was v. happy. I went throught the booking procedure and after payment found a screen confirming the details. My browser informed me there was "blocked content" and when I "allowed it" it just returned to the home page. After 10 minutes or so I checked for a confirmation email to find none. I checked for bookings in my account and found none, so I went ahead and tried to book again. The same happened again so I contacted Travelodge who could only confirm that I now have 2 bookings! The only way to deal with my concern is via email to Customer Servivces. I still have no confirmation email after almost 24hrs and customer services have not got back to me. Also I can not log in to my account. Even using the "forgot password" function.
I'm not confident on getting the money back for the second booking.
Any help would be appreciated.0 -

This is an easy mistake to make.......I have done it! Generally don't do anything, just turn up and you will find that there is enough bedding but only one cup for coffee etc.
The only little worry is that the odd travelodge in London does in fact have single rooms with only a single bed. I don't know but doubt that Heathrow will have any single rooms. As you have booked and paid for a family room this should be of no consequence.
The other alternative is to ring the hotel itself the day before and just say that two people will be staying in the family room. I haver done this and it has not been a problem."If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools"
