Hello everyone, I'm a new member to the forum. I've been struggling with debt courtesy of my ex walking out and going abroad, leaving me with loads of debt and in my attempt to stay in control I accumulated more. So bankruptcy it has to be. Having steeled myself for the process I turned up with forms and fees 30/03/09. Only to be told I was a week too early as only just moved to area beginning of Jan '09!! So now booked for 20th April - my birthday. Happy Birthday to me. In the meanwhile have to avoid phone and door as threatened with bailiffs!! I can hardly wait, 19 days and counting.

Hi iquit, welcome to the April Club, poor you getting a date for your BR on your birthday. Still, be positive, when your time of automatic discharge comes around in April 2010 - you will have an extra boost to your birthday celebrations and extra reasons to celebrate too!

re the Bailiffs, just be sure not to leave your doors or windows open or unlocked and do not answer the door, make sure anyone you live with including kids know not to open the door too.

Thanks Donna,
I live alone in ground floor flat. My windows always shut (blinds as well now!!). Main door has intercom so that should hold them back a bit. Worried about my car though, I hear they can take that - so thinking of parking it on a diff street (God what has my life come to?). Not impressed coz will have pleasure of paying the new and higher fees for my BR:mad: . Hillarious that when you finally succumb to debt you have to pay for the 'honour':rotfl:

Yes definitely park your car elsewhere if you can, that way they cannot get any claim on it.

yes that is a downside that the fees will have gone up, and I know what you mean, I had to borrow money from the fees from family as no way I could have raised it myself really.

I think you should be safe with the intercom too.
