Sorry, when you said "this board" I thought you meant this board.
As for carpet in the loo, I agree that it's best avoided. Things like sickness bugs which are borne in vomit droplets are a damn sight easier to clean from hard floors than carpet.
I bleach the toilet every couple of days and use the loo brush (yes I do have one) when neccessary (IYSWIM)
I also have a cloth which is washed in boiling water after use and only ever used for loo cleaning.
I agree that we are far too scared of germs in general and I never use anti bacterial cleaners but I really don't think that cleaning a toilet regularly is obsessive.0 -

I think it is probably my fault for confusing 'board' and 'forum', as I only read posts via the User CP or the New Posts link and don't notice what board I'm on...sorry...:oNumpties...I'm surrounded by them...save me...:whistle:0 -

What is the best way to get this off?
Please do not clean it for him. Refuse to move in with him until he learns how to clean a bathroom0 -

Well I knew what you meant"One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -

However, I would like to know how everyone keeps their loo brush clean. I leave it to sit in the bleachy water in the loo for a wee while when I clean the loo, but it's still quite grimy, as it's holder.
Buy a new one every month, the cheapy one from Asda, about 50p:D0 -

I get a new cloth out of the packet every week, it becomes the kitchen cloth, last weeks kitchen cloth becomes the bathroom cloth & last weeks bathroom cloth becomes the floor cloth. Old floor cloth goes in bin.0 -

What kind of cloths are they that you are throwing out? Wouldn't it be better to invest in a good quality cloth that can be boil washed and reused? I hate to think of plastic loo brushes going to landfill once a month too.
But..... It's none of my business so I'll shut up now.0 -

I would hate to put a cloth used for the loo or the floor in a saucepan to boil:eek:
They are Vilidia cloths, you get two in a pack for about £1.30 (ish), one pink & white, one blue & white.
I know what you mean about the loo brushes, but what do you do. Wash the loo without one? I use a cloth as well, for the lid, seats, tops & outside, but I like to clean it with a brush first & flush well.0 -

I don't put it in a saucepan.:rotfl:I put it in a cleaning bucket and add boiling water and bleach to it.Sorry I shouldn't have used the term "boil wash".
As for the brushes, I clean them with bleach after each use and soak them in the same until their next use.
Have you thought about buying those disposable loo brushes I have seen advertised? I wouldn't normally recommend them but it's got to be better than chucking all that plastic into landfill.
Do people throw away floor cloths and mops after each use as well, considering the germs walked into our homes on the soles of our feet and those of our pets?0
